Watch The Mighty Devel Sixty 6x6 Easily Crush Its Drag Strip Rivals

If you're looking for something more or less military grade that can also smash bona fide sports cars on the drag strip, you need a Devel Sixty

Combining weight, many driven wheels and a small planet’s worth of torque is the most devastating route to drag strip greatness. It’s a path trodden here by the mighty, massive Devel Sixty six-wheel military biffabout for the road.
Its acceleration figures have never been published, but in this video we can see it easily smoke a Mercedes-AMG GT S and a high-end AMG G-Wagen. Obviously it has six wheels pulling at the road surface, so wheelspin isn’t likely to cause much trouble, but that moon-buggy-on-steroids exterior is home to a 6.7-litre diesel with all of the turbocharging.
That makes the $450,000 monster good for 720bhp and 738lb ft of torque from extremely low revs. Launch it with the revs in the sweet spot and these are the astonishing results. Plus, no one is ever likely to cut you up, are they?

Motorsport This 11,000rpm Monster Is A Mercedes SLK Like No Other

This Judd V8-powered Mercedes SLK makes a tremendous noise in this hill climb footage

Mad V8-engined ‘55’ version aside, the SLK isn’t the most butch car, is it? But, what we have here is no ordinary SLK. Far from it.
It’s been extensively re-engineered by German tuning firm Carlsson to take on the FIA E1 hill climb category, and it means business. It weighs just 780kg, has radically reworked suspension with wider front and rear tracks, plus a mad aero kit featuring a huge rear wing and canards aplenty. Thanks to the extensively altered bodywork, it develops 660kg of downforce at 150mph.
Our favourite bit though is the powerplant: it’s a 3.4-litre Judd V8 which revs to 11,300rpm and develops 620bhp. Factor in that pithy weight figure and all that downforce, and you have a car which is astonishingly fast.
Enjoy the noise, and the sparks!

This Moto3 Racer Managed To Jump Over Another Bike And Land Perfectly

Moto3 rider Jakub Kornfeil looked like he was going to get caught up in someone else's accident, but instead managed to pull off this spectacular jump

It’s a rare thing for the field of Moto3 riders to get through a weekend without something unusual happening, but this is something a bit special.
Jakub Kornfeil was running in a strong fifth in the race at Le Mans when the rider in front of him, Enea Bastianini, had a bit of a wobble as they were about the start the final lap. He was thrown off into the gravel and Kornfeil, being so close behind him and with nowhere to go, was surely going to go down as well.
Somehow, though, he hit Bastianini’s fallen bike in just the right way to launch into the air. That would have been spectacular enough but incredibly, as well as racking up a few air miles, he also managed to land it without losing too much time, eventually finishing sixth.
In true Moto3 style, it wasn’t long before there was something new to focus on as Fabio Di Giannantonio took his debut victory thanks to a stunning final couple of corners where he went from third to first.
Unfortunately, he was controversially given a post-race time penalty for a corner-cutting incident earlier in the race. That dropped him down to fourth and handed Albert Arenas his maiden win.

2019 BMW M2 Competition has $58,900 starting price, sales kick off in July

Alexander Schmuck, BMW spokesperson, recently confirmed that the 2019 BMW M2 Competitionwill finally go on sale in July, with a starting price of $58,900.
BMW also revealed its options range for the brand’s newest high performance model. For instance, getting a metallic paint would cost $550, while a moonroof is priced at $1,050, and the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission will be priced at $2,900.
There will also be an M Driver’s Package for $2,500 that will boost the speed limiter to 174 miles per hour (280 kilometers per hour) from the original max speed of 155 miles per hour (249 kilometers per hour). Customers will also be required to join a one-day driving school at the BMW Performance Center. There will also be an $850 Executive Package that includes a heated steering wheel, adaptive LED headlights, automatic high beams, wireless device charging, and speed limit monitor.
It features new monoblock kidney grilles that are sharper edged, which look more aggressive and are more functional too. These provide more airflow to keep the vehicle nice and chill. Speaking of the visual upgrades, there will be a new colour, Hockenheim Silver Metallic. It also comes in Sunset Orange. The latter was already available on the other BMWs but is new to the M2.
In comparison, the M2 Competition is $4,400 more expensive than the regular M2 at $58,900. But the additional performance might make the higher price worthwhile.
The new model is equipped with a 3.0 liter biturbo inline-six engine like that in the M3 and M4, allowing it to produce 405 horsepower (302 kilowatts) and 406 pound feet (551 Newton metres) of torque in this application. That’s 40 horsepower (30 kilowatts) and 63 pound-feet (85 Newton metres) over the outgoing M2. This engine is paired to a six speed manual gearbox, and like all models, it gets an electronically controlled limited slip differential.
This November, when the 2019 BMW M2 Competition becomes available, Europeans will be able to pick from a range of M Performance parts, many of which will shave weight off the M2. Some of these include a carbon fiber roof, hood, and truck lid that will shed 44 pounds (20 kilograms) all together.
This model will also sit on 19 inch forged wheels that will cut down 7 pounds (3.2 kilos). The titanium will also cut down 18 pounds (8 kilos). Moreover, customers could also choose to get upgraded brakes, and an 0.8 inch (20 millimeter) lower suspension. As of now, it isn’t confirmed yet if any of these items will be offered to United States customers.

Nissan builds Millennium Falcon-inspired Rogue for world premiere of Han Solo movie

With the latest Star Wars franchise movie, Solo, coming soon, Japanese automaker Nissandecided to develop an exclusive car that would remind anyone of Han Solo’s iconic ship, the Millennium Falcon.
This all started when Nissan entered a partnership with the Star Wars Franchise some time ago. Since then, Nissan has been fiddling with the Rogue. Remember when the Rogue One movie came out in 2016? What’s cool was the Japanese automaker was quick enough to release a Star Wars inspired version of their Rogue model just as its namesake movie was released. This was how Nissan Rogue: Rogue One Star Wars Limited Edition was born. Following that model was the quirky Rogue X Wing Concept, which honestly not everyone was fond of.
This year, Nissan’s latest creation would be the Millennium Falcon-inspired Rogue, which they made just in time for the Solo: A Star Wars Story movie that will make its debut on May 25. The model will even head to the red carpet to join the Hollywood stars. Without a surprise, the same company, Vehicle Effects (which fabricated the other Star Wars inspired Rogues) helped create this one as well.
Nissan’s Vice President of marketing communications and media, Jeremy Tucker said in his statement that they have raised the bar with delivering their best custom show vehicle, with the third installment of their own trilogy of collaborations.
Tucker added in his statement that they began playing with the Nissan Rouge, and worked together with no other than the talented designers at Lucasfilm and ILM, who helped them turn Han Solo’s iconic ship to life, with the help of the aforementioned Vehicle Effects, of course. The result? The hottest and most thrilling Nissan Rogue collaboration that they have created.
You might think that the Millennium Falcon is just about how it looks, and you are wrong. In fact, the vehicle’s interior had been modified and was given a set of buttons, lights and sound effects similar to what you will see in the ship’s cockpit. Even the driver and passenger seats were designed to make you feel like you are Han Solo, or perhaps Chewbacca. We are pretty sure that even Harrison Ford will be impressed.
That’s not all. It also features a visual and audible “hyperdrive”, with the blue lights and Bose speakers (which amounts to 1,500 watts of intergalactic sound effects). There is a video online that you could check out to see how cool this actually is.

Nissan showcases latest Star Wars-themed show vehicle at ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’ world premiere

Nissan's latest Star Wars-themed custom show vehicle lands on the Hollywood red carpet at the world premiere of "Solo: A Star Wars Story' this evening. Based upon the brand's best-selling 2018 Nissan Rogue, the custom show vehicle takes inspiration from the iconic Millennium Falcon featuring unmistakable elements from the most-capable ship in the galaxy.
"As the third installment of our own trilogy of collaborations with Lucasfilm, we raised the bar delivering our best custom show vehicle yet," said Jeremy Tucker, Nissan's vice president of marketing communications and media. "We started with the best-selling Nissan Rogue and worked with the talented concept designers at Lucasfilm and ILM. Then we turned to the experts at Vehicle Effects bring it to life. The result is hands-down the most complete and thrilling vehicle we've ever done."
Merging the likeness of the Millennium Falcon with the Nissan Rogue was a natural fit. ProPILOT Assist, a Nissan Intelligent Mobility technology, helps drivers maintain speeds and guide the Rogue "Straight Down the Center." Similarly, the Millennium Falcon always seems to find its way out of trouble ahead by navigating obstacles with apparent ease.
The Millennium Falcon-inspired Rogue is the most extensive Star Wars-themed Nissan custom show vehicle build to date, practically appearing as though it flew right off the screen. In addition to a fully customized movie-inspired exterior, for the first time, this Star Wars-inspired Nissan receives a full interior makeover channeling the iconic cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
Kids of all ages are going to enjoy the level of detail and craftsmanship that went into the interior of the build. Just as any Star Wars fan would expect, the interior features buttons, lights and sound effects closely reflecting the sights and sounds of the Millennium Falcon's cockpit. It also features front- and second-row chairs like those seen inside the Millennium Falcon. Additionally, center-mounted "hyperdrive" controls bring the package to life.
The exterior is where the workmanship of the build shines. Custom handcrafted aluminum body panels feature details mimicking the Millennium Falcon, while 3D-printed inserts bring another level of immersive depth to the project. A roof-mounted radar dish and laser cannon appear as though they were lifted right from the movie set. Up front, the multi-pane windshield clearly resembles that of the on-screen hero.
But the rear of the craft is where all the magic happens. The subspace-hyperdrive unit spanning the entire width of the Rogue appropriately glows blue, while a trio of high-mounted Bose speakers and an 18-in. Bose subwoofer provide the aural experience. Inside and out, the Bose system delivers an impressive 1,500 watts.
Custom fabrication for the Millennium Falcon themed Rogue was completed at Vehicle Effects in Burbank, Calif. Vehicle Effects has a storied history in crafting custom vehicles for on-screen use and is responsible for all previous Nissan Star Wars-themed show vehicles.
"Solo: A Star Wars Story" is in theaters nationwide on Friday, May 25.

Aston Martin DB11 AMR delivers 630 horsepower and 208 mph top speed

Aston Martin’s newest DB11 AMR, which sits at the top of the grand tourer range, is a marriage between high-speed capability with luxurious surrounds. It is equipped with a 5.2 liter V12 that packs an impressive 630 horsepower, which is a 30 horsepower boost over the standard DB11 V12 that the AMR replaces. Still, torque remains at 516 pound feet (700 Newton metres).
With that additional horsepower, the grand tourer can hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 3.7 seconds. That makes it 0.2 second quicker than before, while its top speed is up to 208 miles per hour (335 kilometers per hour), now 8 miles per hour (13 kilometers per hour) faster than the regular DB11 V12. The AMR also features an exhaust that’s a bit louder than before, which is pretty obvious.
Of course, the company boasts that the DB11 AMR is more engaging to drive too. Aside from the added tweaks, the development team revises the shift calibration for the eight speed automatic and tweaks the suspension setup for sharper handling.
Among the upgrades of the DB11 AMR are several minor aesthetic upgrades that give the exterior a slightly more aggressive appearance. Instead of using chrome, Aston has shifted to a dark monochrome finish for the parts. The firm also adds dark trim around the headlights and smoked taillights. There is also a gloss black roof and exposed carbon fiber bits on the roof as well as the side strakes.
For customers who would want a little more, they could check out the limited edition AMR Signature Edition. It comes in Stirling Green with Lime pinstripes and exposed carbon fiber trim. As you move into the cabin, it features Dark Knight black leather with Lime details, and there is a mix of carbon fiber and Satin Dark Chrome trim. The automaker also said in their press release that they only intend to build 100 of these special models.
To summarize, the DB11 AMR becomes the flagship model of the DB11 range. As mentioned earlier, its output has increased by 30 horsepower, now with a total of 630 bhp and a top speed of 208 miles per hour. Its sprint time to 62 miles per hour has also dropped to 3.7 seconds. Handling has become sharper and the new exhaust gives it more character. As for the exterior, the forged alloys, carbon fiber and gloss back detailing are the main highlights.
The wait is not too long for the DB11 AMR, as it will be launched this summer with a base price of $241,000 in the United States. As for the AMR Signature Edition, Aston only offers UK pricing for this and it starts at £201,995 (approximately $274,295).

DB11 AMR - NEW PERFORMANCE FLAGSHIP OF THE DB11 RANGE

Nürburgring: Aston Martin has brought a new dimension of race-inspired dynamism and performance to the DB11 family, with the introduction of the new DB11 AMR, launched today at the opening of the new Nürburgring-based AMR Performance Centre.
Replacing the outgoing V12-engined DB11 as the new flagship of the DB11 range, the DB11 AMR boasts greater power, increased performance, enhanced driving dynamics and a more characterful exhaust note, together with a suite of exterior and interior enhancements. Together they create a DB11 that offers a more vivid driving experience, yet preserves the maturity and effortless continent-crushing GT performance for which the original V12-engined DB11 is rightly renowned.
AMR – inspired by Aston Martin Racing’s successful endurance programme – pushes the envelope of performance for each model in Aston Martin’s range. Launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2017, the performance derivative has already delivered the previous-generation Vantage AMR and AMR Pro, with the highly-anticipated Rapide AMR forthcoming.
At the heart of the DB11 AMR is Aston Martin’s twin-turbocharged 5.2-litre V12. Now developing 630bhp, this gives the DB11 AMR an additional 30bhp compared with the outgoing DB11 V12, and 127bhp more than the V8-engined DB11. Torque remains unchanged at 700Nm. A 0-62mph time of 3.7sec is an improvement of 0.2sec over the outgoing model while a top speed of 208mph makes the DB11 AMR one of the world’s swiftest GT cars and the fastest model in Aston Martin’s current series production range.
Striking the perfect balance between excitement and refinement, the handling of DB11 AMR has been refined by Aston Martin’s skilled dynamics team, led by Chief Engineer Matt Becker. Their work has delivered a greater sense of connection without harming the supple ride. Similarly, a new shift calibration for the transmission and a slightly more vocal exhaust note ensures the DB11 AMR expresses its character more explicitly when Sport mode is engaged.
Aston Martin President & Chief Executive Officer, Dr Andy Palmer, said of the DB11 AMR: “Since its initial launch back in 2016 the DB11 range has matured rapidly and intelligently, selling close to 4,200 V12 examples in that period. With the exceptional V8 Coupe and Volante we felt the V12 could reveal more of its sporting potential, while remaining the consummate GT. By applying a suite of carefully considered performance and styling enhancements the DB11 AMR is both faster - 208mph! - and more precise. It’s a combination that engages and cossets in equal measure to create a dynamic and seductive new flagship for the DB11 range, while consolidating the existing V12-powered DB11s as future collectibles”.
Visually the DB11 AMR is distinguished by a co-ordinated palette of exposed carbon fibre and gloss black detailing that unites the exterior and interior treatment. On the outside all brightwork has been given a monochrome treatment: dark headlight surrounds and smoked tail lamps complimented by dark front grille and tailpipes; gloss black roof, roof strake plus side sills and splitter offering a subtle contrast with the exposed weave of the carbon fibre hood blades and side strakes. The dark theme continues inside, with monotone leather and alcantara upholstery and a bold contrasting central lime stripe, while DB11 AMR is treated to a leather sports steering wheel as standard.
In addition to the extensive choice of standard colour and trim options, the DB11 AMR is available in three Designer Specifications, plus an exclusive AMR Signature Edition, which carries a striking Stirling Green and lime livery. With extensive carbon fibre detailing on the exterior, the inside is equally striking, with Dark Knight leather and Lime detailing, plus Satin Dark Chrome switchgear and Satin Carbon Fibre trim. Strictly limited to 100 units worldwide, the AMR Signature Edition is priced at £201,995.
Aston Martin’s accessories team have also provided a full suite of options for those looking to add further race-inspired styling to their DB11. These include a carbon-fibre engine cover, exhaust tips and a deployable spoiler that add further detail to the model’s exterior, while a new carbon-fibre sports steering wheel and paddeshifts bring that same AMR ethos within the cabin. For those heading off for weekend, expertly tailored luggage sets are available to match the car’s specification.
The Aston Martin DB11 AMR is available from $241,000 in the US with first customer deliveries in Summer 2018.

2019 Mercedes-AMG GT S Roadster unveiled to join the already formidable GT lineup

Mercedes-Benz decides to surprise us with yet another model in the AMG GT lineup by introducing the new GT S Roadster that is positioned between the regular GT Roadster and the GT C version. The newest model will arrive in the United States later this year.
Similar to the other AMG GT models, the new S Roadster comes equipped with a 4.0 liter biturbo V8 that makes 515 horsepower (384 kilowatts) and 494 pound feet of torque (670 Newton metres). In comparison, the standard GT Roadster has 469 horsepower (350 kilowatts) while the droptop GT C packs 550 horsepower (410 kilowatts). All of these have a seven speed dual clutch gearbox.
The S’ capabilities are very much aligned with that of the C’s, thanks to its powertrain. For instance, the S Roadster requires 3.7 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour), only 0.1 second slower than its C counterpart, with a rating of 3.6 seconds. The new model can max out at 192 miles per hour (309 kilometers per hour) versus the 196 miles per hour (315 kilometers per hour) of the GT C.
AMG GT also comes with a few other pieces of equipment to help its performance. These include an electronically controlled locking rear differential that helps put the power down, and three mode adaptive dampers and standard equipment. Aside from that, there are five driving modes available too, altering elements like the steering, accelerator response, and transmission behaviour.
There are also ceramic brake rotors for better response while cutting down some of the convertible’s weight. For a more exhilarating drive, there is the available AMG Dynamic Plus package that adds active engine and transmission mounts, as well as a wider peak horsepower band in the M and Race models, adding on to the microfiber covered steering wheel and yellow highlights on the instruments.
The GT S Roadster doesn’t look that different from other AMG GT Roadsters. One way to identify the new model is by looking at its nose, fender fins, and diffuser trim strip because the standard AMG Chrome package features shiny metal bits here. Buyers who want something that’s a bit different can get the optional AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber pack or the AMG Exterior Night version that uses high gloss black parts.
As you move into the cabin, you will see the same features as the rest of the GT Roadster range. The GT S Roadster comes with features like the performance seats and Airscarf neck heater. The newest Roadster originally comes with the AMG Silver Chrome Interior package as standard, but like I said, customers can upgrade to the high gloss black trim or the carbon fiber option.
PRESS RELEASE

New open-air member of the AMG GT family

Affalterbach. Later this year, Mercedes-AMG is extending its sports car
portfolio with an attractive open-air model: the new AMG GT S Roadster.
With this latest addition, the AMG GT family now has a dozen members: four
two-door Coupes, three Roadsters, two customer sports racing cars and three
four-door Coupes. The basis for the high Driving Performance of the new AMG
GT S Roadster is the combination of a lightweight aluminum spaceframe, a
Handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine, a seven-speed dual clutch
transmission, a rear axle locking differential and a sport suspension with
aluminum double wishbone axles.
"With the AMG GT S Roadster, our AMG GT family has gained another
exceptionally sporty member that combines high driving dynamics with an
emotional open-air experience," says Tobias Moers, Chairman of
Mercedes-AMG GmbH. "The new model represents the perfect alternative
for the performance-oriented AMG GT Roadster customer."
Compared to the AMG GT Roadster, the AMG GT S Roadster is rendered even
more dynamic by numerous modifications to the engine, suspension, brakes,
design and interior. This positions it between the AMG GT Roadster and the
even more powerful AMG GT C Roadster, now providing a choice of three opentop
two-seaters.
Muscular power unit for a top speed of over 190 mph
The Handcrafted AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo in the AMG GT S Roadster delivers
an output of 515 hp and maximum torque of 494 lb-ft. This is available over a
wide engine speed range from 1,900 to 5,000 rpm. The eight-cylinder power
unit delivers muscular performance in all engine speed ranges, combined with
high efficiency for low fuel consumption and emission levels. A sprint from
standstill to 60 mph is absolved in an estimated 3.7 seconds and the dynamic
power delivery continues right up to the top speed of 192 mph.
The two turbochargers of the V8 are not positioned on the outside of the
cylinder banks, but inside the cylinder "V." Advantages: a compact engine
design, spontaneous response of the turbochargers and low exhaust emissions
thanks to optimal airflow to the near-engine catalysts. The dry sump lubrication
also ensures the oil supply even with high lateral forces and allows the engine
to be installed lower, thus moving the center of gravity closer to the road and
forming the basis for high lateral acceleration.
Power transfer is based on the combination of a front mid-engine and the AMG
SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7G sport transmission in a transaxle arrangement, combined
with a torsionally rigid torque tube. Thanks to the wide gear ratio spread, the
decidedly high torque of the V8 biturbo engine can be used to optimum effect.
The weight distribution is also ideal for optimum driving dynamics at 47
percent (front) and 53 (rear) percent.
With adaptive adjustable damping as standard
The AMG GT S Roadster is equipped with the AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension
with adaptive damping adjustment as standard. This fully automatic,
electronically controlled system adjusts the damping at each wheel to the
current requirements. This improves driving safety and ride comfort. The
damping is adjusted individually for each wheel, and depends on the driving
style, the road surface and the selected suspension setting. The ideal operating
point can be selected at all times on the basis of extensive information relating
to acceleration or vehicle speed, for example.
Using a switch in the center console or by selecting the drive mode, the driver
is able to choose between the different damping characteristic maps "Comfort,"
"Sport" and "Sport+," and can thereby individually influence the driving
experience.
Choice of driving experience from comfortable to very sporty
The driver is able to set the AMG GT S Roadster to his/her individual
requirements using the AMG DYNAMIC SELECT controller. Five drive modes,
"C" (Comfort), "S" (Sport), "S+" (Sport Plus), "RACE" and the individually
programmable setup "I" (Individual) are available. These allow a broad range of
driving experiences - from comfortable to very sporty.
In all modes, key parameters such as the response of the engine and
transmission, the accelerator characteristics, AMG RIDE CONTROL sports
suspension, the steering, the 3-stage ESP® and the position of the AMG
Performance exhaust flaps are modified.
By pressing the separate "M" button in the center console, the driver can
activate the manual transmission mode in any drive mode to change gear using the steering-wheel shift paddles. The suspension set-ups can also be selected specifically as needed.
Standard equipment: Electronically controlled rear differential
As standard, the AMG GT S Roadster is equipped with an electronically
controlled locking differential at the rear axle, which is integrated into the
compact transmission housing. Its precision and fast control raises the limit of
vehicle dynamics to a new level. It not only further improves the traction of the
drive wheels, but also increases the cornering speed capability. The result is
that the driver is able to accelerate out of corners earlier and with more power
thanks to the improved traction. The vehicle remains more stable when
braking from high speed, while the limited-slip differential also improves
traction.
The greatest benefit of the electronic rear-axle limited-slip differential is the
even more precision and proactive control, which pushes the performance
threshold higher, making it even easier to drive at the vehicle's limits. To
deliver optimum cooling, the housing of the limited-slip differential has
additional cooling fins.
Large dimensions: the AMG high-performance composite braking system
The AMG high-performance composite brake system is adapted to the
enhanced performance of the AMG GT S Roadster. The front axle features
composite brake discs measuring 15.4 x 1.42 in with 6-piston fixed calipers,
with composite brake discs measuring 14.2 x 1.02 in and single-piston fixed
calipers at the rear. The brake calipers are painted in red with "AMG" lettering.
There is also the option of AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking
system with brake discs in size 15.8 x 1.54 in at the front axle and 14.2 x 1.26
in at the rear, together with specially painted brake calipers with "AMG Carbon
Ceramic" lettering. Exceptionally short stopping distances, a precise pressure
point and outstanding resistance to fading even under extreme operating
conditions - the AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system
offers motorsport-like braking performance and weighs around 40 percent less
than with conventional composite brake discs.
Intelligent lightweight construction with high proportion of aluminum
For the body of the GT S, Mercedes-AMG has opted for an intelligent and
particularly lightweight mix of materials with a high proportion of aluminum.
The spaceframe and exterior parts are of aluminum, and the trunk lid too is
particularly light in weight thanks to an innovative composite material. The
load-bearing structure is made of SMC (Sheet Molding Compound). These hightech
composites excel with their lightweight design, high strength and
outstanding surface quality. The innovative materials were developed by the
Mercedes-Benz TEC factory in Sindelfingen, and brought to production
maturity together with the AMG specialists in Affalterbach. The extremely
lightweight front deck made of magnesium reduces the inertia ahead of the
front axle, improving the agility of the Roadster.
Weight-optimized: the fabric soft top
The three-layered fabric soft top is supported by a magnesium/steel/aluminum
structure of low weight, which helps to keep the vehicle's center of gravity low.
Additional roll-over protection is provided by an integrated aluminum crossmember,
while the inserted acoustic mat improves noise comfort.
Authentic sports car experience embodying sensual purity
From the expressive AMG radiator grille to the long hood and the muscular tail
end, the two-seater guarantees a pure sports car experience even when
stationary. The flat front section and forward-sloping radiator grille make the
Roadster appear to hug the road. At the same time this shape lowers the
vehicle's back-pressure point, enhancing the flow of cooling air and the car's
aerodynamic performance.
The front bumper has a jet wing design that emphasizes the car's width,
making it sit flatter on the road. The large outer air inlets guarantee the supply
of cooling air to the engine. The LED High Performance headlamps offer more
safety at night and an unmistakably sporty and distinctive look. Thanks to LED
technology, they illuminate the road more effectively than conventional
headlamps – with lower energy consumption.
Viewed from the side, the arched roof line (when the soft top is closed) and the
frameless doors are eye-catching features. The surfaces and lines of the side
pronounced powerdomes, the greenhouse which has been moved far back, the
large wheels and broad tail end also contribute to the distinctive looks. As
standard the AMG GT S Roadster is equipped with mixed tires on 19-inch rims
at the front and 20-inch rims at the rear.
The high-gloss chrome features in the standard-equipped AMG Chrome
package include the front splitter, the fin on the air inlet grilles in the front
bumper, the fins in the fenders and the trim strip in the diffuser.
AIRPANEL active air management system
The active air regulation system AIRPANEL included as standard is a particular
technical highlight. Vertical louvers at the bottom of the front bumper are
opened and closed electronically by means of an electric motor in around one
second to guarantee the required amount of cooling. Constantly achieving the
ideal position calls for highly intelligent and fast control.
During normal driving with no increased cooling demand, the louvers are
closed for reduced drag and the air is directed at the underbody. This improves
the aerodynamic efficiency of the vehicles. Only when certain components
reach predefined temperatures and the air demand is particularly high do the
louvers open to allow the maximum cooling air flow to the heat exchangers.
As another active aerodynamic component, the Roadster features an
extendable rear spoiler. This reduces lift at the rear axle at higher speeds. With
its broad shoulders and expressive taillamp graphics, the rear end enhances
the emotional overall appearance.
High quality and exclusivity: the interior
The interior design echoes the design lines of the exterior. The dashboard
places a firm emphasis on width, creating an impression of a powerful wing.
Thanks to the high beltlines, concave door paneling, a dynamic, rising center
console and the low seating position, the driver is integrated into the cockpit
and feels fully attuned to the Roadster. The sports seats, the Performance
steering wheel and the instrument cluster also demonstrate outstanding
precision and high-quality materials.
The performance seats are upholstered in black MB-Tex man-made
leather/DINAMICA microfiber as standard. Numerous other materials and
colors are also optionally available:
 Nappa leather in Black
 Nappa leather in Auburn Brown/Black
 Two-tone Nappa leather in Red Pepper/Black,

contrasting topstitching,
 Exclusive Nappa leather /DINAMICA microfiber in Black with grey
contrasting topstitching,
 Exclusive Nappa leather /DINAMICA microfiber in Black with red
contrasting topstitching.
Choice of high-quality interior trim
As standard the AMG GT S Roadster comes with the AMG Silver Chrome
Interior package. This creates particular highlights with trim in high-quality
silver chrome. The package consists of a center console surround, air vent
bezels and trim strips in the door armrests in silver chrome.
The AMG Black Piano Lacquer Interior package is available as an option. Trim
surfaced in luxurious, shining piano lacquer accentuates the high quality of the
interior. The package consists of a center console surround, air vent bezels and
trim strips in the door armrests in piano lacquer look.
Also optionally available are AMG trim elements in matte silver fiber-glass,
carbon-fiber and matte carbon-fiber. The Exclusive Trim package further
enhances the AMG trim and brings even more individuality to the interior. It
consists of two trim strips in the door armrests in a version dependent on the
chosen AMG trim.
AMG Performance seats with AIRSCARF and climate control
The standard AMG Performance seats provide even more lateral support with
more heavily contoured backrest and seat cushion side bolsters. The AMG
Performance seats of the Roadster are also equipped with the AIRSCARF necklevel
heating system, which makes open-air driving enjoyable even in low
outside temperatures.
The air vent is seamlessly integrated into the seat's head restraint area. To
meet the individual preferences of customers, the airflow intensity can be set
in three stages.
