Leaked Info Suggests 2021 Mustang Mach-E Packs More Power Than Originally Stated
Almost every powertrain option supposedly gets a slight bump in power and torque.
The 2021 Mustang Mach E is well on its way to carving out an electric future for the much-beloved stallion. But before the first examples of the EV crossover SUV even hit lots, a leak from Ford's dealer training sites (and posted to macheforum.com) reveals new power ratings for every powertrain configuration. It's good news, as Ford has likely increased both the horsepower and torque figures on almost all of the Mach-E's powertrain configurations.
Buyers will have multiple powertrain configurations to pick from when Mach-Es finally start to roll off the production line. There are two battery options: a Standard Range battery pack rated at 76 kilowatt-hours and an Extended Range pack rated at 99 kWh. Either of those battery options feeds power to either a single rear motor or both a front and rear motor on all-wheel-drive models, depending on which of the five trims you select. The estimated driving range for each powertrain hasn't changed, however. We'll detail the changes for each configuration below. Pricing for each of the trims can be found here.
Standard Range, RWD:
The Standard Range pack with just two driven wheels now makes 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. Those are increases of 11 hp and 11 lb-ft over Ford's previously stated figures. The estimated range remains 230 miles.
Standard Range, AWD:
The Standard Range pack with all-wheel drive now makes 266 hp and 428 lb-ft of torque. Those gains mirror that of the rear-wheel-drive model. The expected range is still 210 miles.
Extended Range, RWD:
The Extended Range pack sees its motor or motors add 8 hp and 11 lb-ft of torque to the table, which brings the total output up to 290 hp and 317 lb-ft of twist. This option gives you the most range for the Mach-E, which remains unchanged at an estimated 300 miles.
Extended Range, AWD:
This powertrain gains 14 hp and 11 lb-ft of torque, which brings the total output to 346 hp and 428 lb-ft of twist. The estimated range for this powertrain combo is 270 miles. Alas, the leak doesn't cover the top-of-the-line GT, which comes standard with the Extended Range pack and all-wheel drive, but produces a targeted 459 horses and 612 lb-ft of torque. Time will only tell if Ford's found some additional oomph for its quickest Mach-E trim, which offers an estimated range of 235 miles.
