Peugeot 205 Rallye

Produced from 1983 until 1998, the 205 was an extremely popular French supermini build by Peugeot. Over 5.3 million units have been build. The car was even declared “car of the decade” in 1990.
The car was available with a variety of different engines, from a small 954cc I4 all the way up to a 1.905cc I4.

205 Rallye

From 1988 until 1992 Peugeot produced the 205 Rallye, which was engineered and produced by Peugeot-Talbot Sport. The car was meant to be a more affordable version of the GTi.
The car was kind of a mix between the normal 205 and the GTi, as it used an upgraded version of the normal 1.1L but they bored the cylinders out the a total displacement of 1294cc. The engine produced 102hp at 6500rpm. The Rallye used to suspension from the GTi with ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the back.
If you ever were to buy a 205 Rallye don’t expect to get a luxurious car. The Rallye version has been stripped of all it’s luxurious things, bringing the wait down to only 794 kg (1.750 lb). Because weight reduction bruh.
The Rallye was only sold in some European countries, such as France, Portugal, Belgium, Spain, Italy and The Netherlands.
From 1990 until 1992 Peugeot also built a 1.9L version of the Rallye. The car was only sold in Germany because the normal 1.3L version didn’t meet German’s road regulations. Only 1.000 units have been made.
Even though the 1.9 is much rarer than the 1.3 it is less popular amongst Peugeot enthusiasts, the reason being that the 1.9 is quite a bit slower than the 1.3. The car only produced 3hp more but also weighs 150 kg more than the 1.3.
In 1994 Peugeot build 750 Rallyes for the UK, but they were renamed to 205 XT.
