Kia has posted pricing for its hot new 2027 EV5 online. This compact-ish all-electric SUV is expected to put the hurt on the segment and on higher-priced EV SUVs.

One victim could very well be the EV6, as nothing’s officially been shared for the 2026 MY. The fact that both models overlap almost instantly pricewise could signal big changes for the appreciated midsize electric crossover.

As you may know, the 2027 Kia EV5 is a Canada-exclusive electric SUV, designed and built in South Korea. Positioned as a smaller alternative to the EV9, the EV5 combines a familiar boxy design with practical features aimed at tech-savvy, outdoors-oriented families. It features two battery options: the 60.4 kWh is limited to the base Light FWD, while the 81.4 kWh is standard on all other models. The larger pack is expected to offer up to an estimated 471 km of range (EPA-estimated). A front-wheel-drive model delivers 214 hp and 229 lb-ft of torque, while the upcoming AWD version will boost output to 308 hp and 354 lb-ft.

Inside, the EV5 offers a minimalist, modern interior with recycled materials, twin 12.3-inch display screens, and clever features like configurable ambient lighting and much. Storage includes a 513-litre trunk and a 67-litre frunk, with a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) outlet offering up to 3.6 kW for powering devices.

Charging options include 150 kW DC fast charging (10–80% in ~30 minutes), 11 kW AC on larger-battery trims, and access to Tesla’s Supercharger network via the NACS port. While ride comfort and cabin tech are highlights, drawbacks include inconsistent cabin materials, overly sensitive driver-assist alerts, and ergonomic issues with some controls, according to our first drive review.
