BMW X2, X3 receive two-wheel drive models in the United States

BMW has great news as they have recently launched a 2018 X2 sDrive28i in the United States. And if you do not know what that means, it basically is a two wheel drive version of the current X2, which means that it is also much more affordable, with a starting price of $36,400 (excluding destination and handling of $995).
The 2018 version makes it $2,000 less than the X2 xDrive28i, the hatchback like crossover comes standard with LED lighting units, a power tailgate, as well as 18 inch alloy wheels. When looking at the base model, it does not exactly look very luxurious, though in the cabin, it gets a leather wrapped steering wheel and a 10 way power front sport seats with SensaTec upholstery. It also features an automatic climate control system, a high gloss black trim with pearl gloss chrome accents, and a seven speaker audio system.
Under the hood, you will find a 2.0 liter TwinPower Turbo four-cylinder engine that offers 228 horsepower (170 kilowatts) and 258 pound feet (349 Newton metres) of torque. This engine works with an eight speed automatic transmission that lets the crossover accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 6.6 seconds before continuing to a top speed of 144 miles per hour (231 kilometers per hour). Having said that, it’s easy to figure out that the front wheel drive version will be slightly slower than the all wheel drive variant, but the good thing is that it is also more fuel efficient.
According to a report by Carsdirect, the front wheel drive BMW X2 can already be ordered in dealerships. This will then be joined by the 2019 X3 sDrive 30i, which is a front wheel drive version of the X3. The latter will have a starting price of $41,000 and will arrive at dealerships in summer 2018. This does not yet include the $995 destination and handling fee.
Similar to the all wheel drive variant, the X3 sDrive30i will also be equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder that carries out 248 horsepower (185 kilowatts) and 258 pound feet (349 Newton metres) of torque. With this engine, it has the ability to sprint from 0-60 in only six seconds sharp, before hitting a top speed of 130 miles per hour (209 kilometers per hour). And because the two wheel drive version gets the same engine, we can expect it to have similar figures.
If you are interested in getting the more affordable front wheel drive version of the X2, you can already check out the configurator online. For the X3 sDrive30i, you will have to wait a few more months.
