Limited edition Ford Mustang Iacocca is up for grabs at Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach 2018 sale

Not a lot may have heard of Lee Iacocca, but we are pretty sure that you all know of his creation - and that would be none other than the Ford Mustang. Iacocca was the former Ford executive that turned the former concept into a reality. Not only did he turn the Mustang into production, but he also groomed it into the icon that we know it today.
To celebrate this, Ford and Galpin decided to come up with a special Mustang to celebrate the nameplate’s 45th anniversary. They named the unique version the Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang, and guess what? It will be sold off this April.
The rear wheel drive sports car will be put up for auction at the Barrett Jackson Palm Beach 2018 sale. It will be a rare treat for collectors as this is one of only 45 examples ever built and it comes with a number of unique design and performance elements to boot. This includes a special plaque in the engine bay to signify its rarity.
Because it is a Mustang, the car’s exterior will look familiar to many. Both the grille and the front fascia are almost identical to the 2009 model year Mustang, but with a slightly smoother look.
The rear coupe styling has been replaced with a retro fastback look instead, while the cabin gets a couple of upscale bits like the leather seats, making it stand out from the standard Mustang.
Most of the changes are found under the Iacocca’s hood. The 4.6 liter V8 now works with an optional supercharger, delivering a total output of 400 horsepower (298 kilowatts). This engine is paired to a five speed manual gearbox, and with only 500 miles (804 kilowatts) on its odometer, it’s practically new. When this first came out, it had an asking price of $89,950. But at the auction, that figure will double or even triple easily. When this was sold in 2009, it actually fetched as much as $352,000, which all went to charity.
Let us see how much this Iacocca Silver Edition Mustang will be sold for by Barrett Jackson, when it goes up for auction on April 12 at the South Florida Fairgrounds in West Palm Beach. If you are in the market, it is number 20 of 45 that will be up for grabs, and reservations aren’t allowed here.
For those of you who want to acquire this special edition Mustang, you will want to head over to Palm Beach in April.
