Equus Throwback is like a tribute to former Corvettes

Equus Automotive, an aftermarket specialist in the United States, is somewhat in the same field as the Brabus or Alpina. Today, their latest creation would be the Throwback. When you look at it, it gets most of its design cues from older versions, but injected with a modern twist. Now, for those of you who are interested, you’ll have to be pretty quick because the company will only be making 25 examples of these, each one with a price tag of $130,000.
Firstly, the Throwback’s exterior carbon fiber bodywork makes reference to several generations of Corvette. Some of these cues include side scallops that evoke the original. Theres is also the spear, stretching along the rear, that plays on the split window 1963 ‘Vette coupe. Up front, the Throwback features a set of large spotlights in the front bumper for cruising in the evening. In the hood, there is a big power bulge that have heat extractors. In the rear, the circular taillights remind us of the classic model, while the exhaust outlets look like trombones.
As we move into the interior, you would notice that it has been reupholstered by Equus Automotive. It now has a generous amount of Alcantara upholstery like diamond quilting on the seats. Turned metal trim then finishes the center console and door pulls.
As for performance, the tuner does not give us enough information just yet, especially with regards to its powertrain. However, an optional upgrade will give the coupe 1,000 horsepower (746 kilowatts) and 822 pound feet (1,114 Newton metres) of torque. Equus Automotive is confident that the Throwback can hit 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) from stand still in 2.5 seconds, before it continues to its too speed of over 220 miles per hour (354 kilometers per hour).
Before the Throwback came to life, Equus Automotive developed the Bass 770, which has a vintage-inspired look. It took most of its inspiration from the 1960s Ford Mustang, with a little more muscle car elements from Mopar up front. Under the hood is a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 engine from a Corvette ZR1, carrying out 640 horsepower (477 kilowatts) and 605 pound feet (819 Newton metres) of torque.
This works with a six speed dual clutch gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels, making the coupe reach 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in only 3.4 seconds. Overall, the said model has a too speed of 199 miles per hour (320 kilometers per hour). The Bass 770 has a price tag of $250,000 too.
Now, the question is: would you be willing to pay $130,000 for this? Well, if it is a limited edition model, it is hard to say no to.
