Lexus to unveil RC F SPORT Black Line Special Edition at 2018 New York Auto Show
It was during this year’s Chicago Auto Show that Lexus, as part of the celebration of its 10 years of performance, put on display unique versions of its high-powered models, the RC F and the GS F. The brand however is planning to showcase a limited edition RC that can deliver more than the V8-powered models.
Lexus revealed that it will be rolling out during the 2018 New York Auto Show its RC F SPORT Black Line Special Edition. This appearance package will be available for both the RC 300 and the 350 F Sport. It will come with two new choices for exterior paint which are Atomic Silver and Caviar. The brand also revealed that it will be making only 650 units worldwide.
In addition to the new colors, the gloss exterior paint will be contrasting with the standard matte black wheels paired to the brake calipers which can come in either black or orange. Instead of the usual chrome trim, this Special Edition will now have black chrome accents surrounding the grille as well as the windows.
The interior has the same subtle treatment as that of the exterior with orange stitching seen everywhere. These include, among others, the doors, the seats, and even the dashboard. Meanwhile the wood-trimmed steering wheel reveals unique shades of black developed by a Japanese calligraphy shop known for perfecting ink for the past two centuries.
In terms of features, each RC F SPORT Black Line coupe model will be fitted with the Navigation + Mark Levinson Audio Package and the Intuitive Parking Assist. It will also have the Moonroof and even Triple Beam LED headlamps.
Lexus disclosed that the Black Line Special Edition will be made available for all the four versions of its RC Coupe. Powering the base model will be the turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine. For the RC 300 AWD, RC 350 and the RC 350 AWD, these three will have the 3.5-liter V6 engine.
Lexus said that the RC 300 Black Line model will come with a starting Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $51,730. The RC 300AWD meanwhile will have MSRP of $53,755. On the other hand, the MSRP of the RC 350 is $54,660 with the RC 350 AWD priced at $56,120.
Available in spring to dealers across the country, the 2018 RC F SPORT Black Line Edition will be exhibited at the 2018 New York Auto Show. Joining it will be the 2019 Lexus UX compact crossover as it makes its official debut in North America.
Though the 2018 RC F coupe and the 2018 GS F sedan were originally revealed during the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show, it was at the Chicago Auto Show that it marked its official entry to U.S. soil. However, only 240 units of the RC F will be made for the U.S. while there will be 100 units of the GS F.
