Land Rover Explore Outdoor Smartphone is perfect for the toughest off-road adventures
Land Rover is most known for making vehicles capable of going off road. Though we don’t always see it crossing rivers or climbing mountains, people have gone to the farthest places on the planet with the luxury SUV. Now, for those of you who love extreme adventures, Land Rover has something in store for you, but it isn’t a car this time.
Instead, the company decided they would make a smartphone. And this is more than just your typical licensed product as the Land Rover Explore Outdoor Smartphone has several features that are perfect for your off-road lifestyle.
One of the features it boasts would be the 4,000 milliamp-hour battery that lets it run for as long as two days, and there’s an optional Adventure pack that makes it last even longer, with the additional 3,600 mAh of battery power. It also has a GPS antenna for more accuracy and reliability. It features a dual SIM as well, just in case of an emergency.
To make adventurers feel extra secure, this phone has been made extra durable too, in case it gets dropped or submerged in water (and salt water), with the IP68 rating. This phone has also been drop tested from a height of 1.8 metres (5 feet, 11.9 inches).
Unlike other phones out there, the Land Rover Explore Outdoor phone is not sensitive to extreme temperatures. It can also survive other things like humidity, thermal shock, and vibration exposure. It boasts a five inch full HD display too. Another cool thing is that the screen can be operated even with wet fingers or your gloved hand.
Land Rover offers a number of additional packs that can be added aside from the Adventure pack. For bikers, there is a bike pack that comes with a case and bike mount for both the stem and the handlebar, letting you tilt it to adjust the viewing angle. Another pack would be the Ultimate Battery Performance that adds 4370 mAh of battery capacity.
The Land Rover Explore Outdoor phone runs on Google’s Android Nougat. You could opt to upgrade this to the Oreo though if you wish to do so. The phone has a RAM of 4GB, deca core 2.6GHz Helio X27 chipset, 16 megapixel rear camera, and an eight megapixel front camera.
This April, we can expect to see Land Rover’s first ever smartphone with the Adventure pack in the market. It will have a starting price of 649 euros (£599 / $838), which actually makes it more affordable than other automotive branded smartphones. The only sad part is that this model will not be available in the United States.
