Leaked Images: Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury electric SUV concept

As we all know, the newest Vision Mercedes-Maybach Ultimate Luxury will be officially revealed on April 25. However, even before its actual premiere, images of the said model had already been leaked on the internet. As you can see here, the same images were posted on CarNewsChina. Take note that these are actually the official shots of the new Vision Mercedes Maybach Ultimate Luxury. Some describe this SUV as a sedan with a tall roof and a lot of ground clearance provided by the jacked up suspension.

In fact, Mercedes refers to this as an SUV saloon that will meet the requirements of affluent Chinese buyers who are vital in the success of super luxury car sales worldwide. It obviously has similarities to rival models like the Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Rolls Royce Cullinan.

As expected, it still gets the aforementioned “bold new grille”, which doesn’t differ from the vertical slats of the facelifted Mercedes Maybach S Class and the much longer Pullman version. In the back is a retro-like split window layout. Nevertheless, we still think that the design on the previous Vision concept looks better. We’re referring to the Vision Mercedes Maybach 6 from two years ago.

Inside, it continues to be luxurious with elements like a large center console that features a heated tray that contains a tea set. There are also large, adjustable seats similar to the Mercedes Maybach S-Class.

According to Autocar, the new concept is purely electric. Therefore, power will come from four electric motors that produce a total output of 738 horsepower, which is a lot for an electric car. This comes from a huge 80 kWh battery pack installed underneath the floor and has enough juice to drive up to 310 miles (500 kilometers) in the outgoing New European Driving Cycle (NEDC). This means that it is equivalent to a little less in real life.

Many of us believe that the concept acts as a preview of a Maybach version of the next-generation GLS. Meanwhile, Mercedes’ largest SUV has been spotted on the streets with a completely new body. Now, it still is a question to many whether the more upscale version will be getting a different shape versus the 2019 GLS, or whether it will have an elongated wheelbase, a shiny grille, and other minor tweaks similar to the S-Class’ recipe.

Having said all that, it would probably be best if you can witness the Vision Mercedes Maybach Ultimate Luxury as it makes its premiere on Wednesday at the Beijing Motor Show. Alongside this SUV will be the A Class Sedan, which we will likely see in the long wheelbase specification that exclusively caters to the Chinese market.
