Ford GT deliveries in Europe finally started, Scandinavian customer is one of the first to get the keys

In today’s world, there are a lot of pros and cons that this highly digital world has brought to us. When most things can arrive in what seems to be a blink of an eye, a wait of nearly two years to get your hands on the Ford GT must feel terrible. That is indeed a serious type of punishment.

This is the experience of about 6,500 car enthusiasts from all over the world who applied to purchase one of the first 500 Ford GT supercars. Yes, this model has been available in the United States for quite some time now. That’s why it’s a big deal when you’re one of the first persons in Europe to get the keys to the GT.

The lucky customer who is the first to receive this GT in Scandinavia is Jason Watt. He used to be a racing driver in Denmark. Back in 1999, he got into a major motorcycle accident, which resulted to his body being paralyzed from the chest down.

He also once owned a 2005 Ford GT, which was modified for hand operation. Now, being the first owner of the new Ford GT in the continent, his car will also undergo the same treatment. It will be given a roof rack that will be installed so Jason can easily transport his wheelchair when driving his new supercar.

Watt even jokes in his interview during the handover event at Copenhagen saying that his Ford GT is probably the world’s fastest car you would see in the disabled parking spaces. To personalize his Ford GT even more, Watt’s car gets a gorgeous Gulf Oil livery.

And guess what’s under the hood? A 3.5 liter biturbocharged V6 engine that carries out 647 horsepower and 550 pound feet of torque, bringing power through a seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission. It also boasts a top speed of 216 miles per hour. To make the Ford GT more special, the automaker only plans to produce a total of 1,000 examples of the supercar.
