BMW X4 M rendered, gets closer to the ground and is more aggressive

The 2019 BMW X4 (G02) boasts an updated exterior and tech-heavy cabin. Physically, the SUV has grown in size and is now three inches longer than its predecessor, and this means more legroom for rear passengers as well. This X4 is scheduled to be out in dealerships sometime in July, but rendering artists have already gone to work on imagining an M version of this.

The rendering artist who created the X4 M is none other than X-Tomi Design. At first glance, you will notice that the more hardcore variant gets a lot of obvious cues from the base model - including the dual kidney grille and the sloped roofline. But it also gets some added elements that make it extra unique.

Instead of the original chrome grille inserts, the BMW X4 M’s had been blacked out. The lower air vent on the grille is now larger and more defined. Each corner is accented by two smaller vents, each one embedded with LED running lights. Its entire body has been lowered to the ground, while the roof has a carbon fiber treatment finished in black - overall, making it look more aggressive.

If we were to guess how much power this vehicle has, of course, it would be natural for us to base that on BMW’s current lineup. Since the X4 will have an updated version of the 3.0 liter S55 six cylinder engine like that on cars such as the M3 sedan and the M4 coupe, we think that it should be good to deliver around 470 to 475 horsepower (350 to 354 kilowatts). The X4 has actually already been spotted testing, showing off features like quad exhaust tips and unique body paneling.

Currently, the most powerful X4 that is out in the market comes equipped with a 3.0 liter turbocharged inline six that enables the vehicle to carry out 355 horsepower (265 kilowatts) and 365 pound feet (495 Newton metres) of torque. The 3.0 liter unit is then paired to an eight-speed automatic as well as all wheel drive. As for performance figures, the crossover has the ability to sprint to 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour) in just 4.6 seconds.

Though the actual X4 and X4 M are not very distinct from one another, the latter still looks a lot sportier and more aggressive with its blacked out bits. The current X4 model can be had for $60,450, and will go on sale starting in July. We are hopeful to see a more powerful, M version of this model before the year ends. But for now, it is only available in the virtual world for us to look at.
