Toyota shows off this sexy silhouette as teaser of Supra’s arrival at 2018 Geneva Motor Show
Toyota recently published a teaser with the title “The Legend Returns.” It’s not a secret as we already know that they are referring to none other than the Toyota Supra. For the longest time, Toyota enthusiasts anticipated the time that they will see the Supra, and finally, the automaker announced on social media, their media website and to email boxes around the world that it will arrive at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, describing it as a “modern racing concept” that they will bring back to the market.
Here is the thing, the automaker did not actually say which car it would be as they did not mention any names. In fact, it could be a new 2000GT. However, no matter how cool this vintage car is, it still is not considered to be as iconic as the Supra, which is why we doubt that it is the one being teased.
Also, another thing we are aware of is Toyota’s new project with BMW, the new sports car they are currently working on, that shares its underpinnings among both brands. We have actually seen this car, the next Z4 (the BMW version), a few times in prototype format, and we have seen both models being tested together. Also, we have already heard rumours from before that Toyota might unveil the new Supra in Geneva - and this is finally it, at least we think it is.
Again, take note that Toyota said a “modern racing concept” so this may not give us the full scoop on the Supra after all. But looking at the teaser photo, the vehicle’s silhouette certainly tells us that it is an A80 Supra.
That was also the last generation that bowed out in 2002, with the massive spoiler that sticks out, which we think is too much for the production model, even if the car is called the Supra wing. One thing we could see here though is that the teaser looks a lot like the prototype vehicle that we have been seeing in spy photos - from the double humps on the roof as well as the ledge on the back.
The biggest question now is whether or not it is the new Supra that will make an appearance at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Or could it be another concept car with “plans” for a production version.
Well, Toyota is scheduled for a press conference on March 6 in Geneva, so let us stay tuned to that. For now, we just have to be a little more patient. The Supra is considered to be the automaker’s most iconic sports car, which is why people are very excited for it to come out, and hopefully, our hunch is right.
