515 Project One powerboat by Mercedes-AMG and Cigarette Racing is unveiled at 2018 Miami Boat Show
Mercedes-Benz recently published an AMG Project One teaser, and just by hearing those words, I am pretty sure that we got you excited. But here is the thing, it wasn’t a teaser of a hyper car this time, but a boat instead - or should we say hyper boat?
This boat is not like any regular boat out there, but it can be more accurately described as a Cigarette Racing offshore powerboat. It has been inspired by the impressive Mercedes-AMG Project One. The good news here is that we have been given full disclosure on this boat, and we are telling you now that it isn’t like your regular seagoing yacht that has an automaker’s badge but cannot perform. In fact, this is quite the opposite of that. With over 51 feet in length, this model is packed with carbon fiber, and can do 140 miles per hour (225 kilometers per hour) on water.
This boat is called the Cigarette Racing 515 Project One. It does not have the hypercar’s monstrous engine but that is completely fine with us. In fact, the Mercedes AMG Project One’s 1,000 horsepower engine will not get the boat anywhere near 140 miles per hour, and that is why this water borne Project One has been equipped with a pair of Mercury Racing quad-cam V8 engine that brings out 1,350 horsepower (1,006 kilowatts) each.
This engine utilizes 91 octane fuel so it can hit the 515’s top speed that requires the Race Key and a tank of race fuel, maximizing the engine output to 1,550 (1,156 kilowatts) each. That adds up to a total output of 3,100 horsepower (2,312 kilowatts). Now, we understand why it gets its Project One moniker.
Performance figures aren’t the only thing that excites us about the 515 Project One. That is because the boat has been built with Kevlar and carbon fiber all throughout, making it 5,000 pounds (2,268 kilograms) lighter than Cigarette Racing’s 41 foot SD GT3 offshore boat, even if it is also 10 feet longer.
Other than that, it has a larger beam that is about the same size as that of the Cigarette Marauder, which fits in six passengers comfortably. Well, comfortable enough as one can get to triple digit speeds on the ocean. This model, according to Cigarette Racing, is currently the most impressive boat that the company has built.
It has been 11 years since Mercedes-AMG partnered with Cigarette Racing to build AMG inspired high performance boats. The 515 Project One is the newest boat that both companies have developed. This insanely fast boat will then be unveiled at the 2018 Miami International Boat Show, which runs from February 16th up until the 20th at the Miami Marine Stadium Park & Basin.

Designed from the ground up using the latest technology and methodologies, the Cigarette Racing 515 Project ONE was inspired by the highly anticipated Mercedes-AMG Project ONE supersports car.
Representing the ninth special edition boat created from this partnership, the Cigarette Racing 515 Project ONE is 51’ 5” in length and features an increased beam of 9’ 6” which allows 6 passengers the ability to be seated comfortably. The new boat offers an increase of over 30% greater surface area when compared to the existing 50’ Marauder, while still providing similar performance and an impressive 140 mph top speed through the use of a highly optimized composite structure consisting of carbon-fiber, Kevlar® and E-glass. Cigarette’s signature aggressive shoulders, which rise in the rear of the boat, also allow the integration of a large sun cushion on the flat exposed-weave carbon fiber hatch - despite the tall engines beneath - for maximum comfort and versatility when stationary. The boat’s deck is constructed completely of carbon fiber to reduce the total weight and lower the center mass of the boat. Carbon Fiber is also used for the inner structural laminate of the hull, forward bulkheads, cabin liner, engine hatch, consoles and storage hatches to significantly reduce the overall weight. For example, the air intakes, which are over 7ft long and 14 inches wide, weigh only 4.4 lbs. Overall, the weight optimized Cigarette Racing 515 Project ONE is over ten feet longer than the Cigarette Racing 41’ SD GT3 but it weighs over5,000-lbs less. Kevlar® has also been used for tabbing bulkheads and around
