X-Tomi reimagines the 2019 Mercedes-Benz A-Class as a convertible
It wasn’t that long ago when we first saw Mercedes-Benz’ newest A-Class when it made its world debut. And already, X-Tomi Design has already reworked it as a convertible. Now, the rendered version only comes with two doors instead of four, while losing its roof - turning it into a trendy four-seat drop top.
Right now, we believe that Mercedes-Benz has no intentions of launching a convertible model on its compact, front wheel drive platform. But still, its lineup will offer an array of different things. This includes an A-Class that would offer customers a five door hatchback, while the A-Class Sedan looks similar, but only comes with four doors and a trunk.
Aside from those, Mercedes Benz offers the CLA-Class for customers who look for a four door model with more style. There is also the more utilitarian B-Class hatchback for the more adventurous people. And let us not forget the GLA-Class, which is a coupe inspired crossover, and the GLB-Class that is a boxier SUV.
The compact vehicles mentioned earlier are not just proof that Mercedes Benz offers a wide variety of body styles for their customers. Aside from that, there will also be a number of engine choices as well. When the A-Class becomes available in the market, it will be offered in two gasoline engines, and one diesel engine. To be more specific, the A 200 version will have 161 horsepower (120 kilowatts) and 184 pound-feet (250 Newton metres) of torque coming from its 1.4 liter turbocharged four cylinder.
There is also a 2.0 liter turbocharged four cylinder available in the A250 that can carry out 221 horsepower (165 kilowatts) and 258 pound feet (350 Newton metres) of torque. Lastly, the smaller engine offering that Mercedes has would be the A 180 d that produces 114 horsepower (85 kilowatts) and 192 pound-feet (260 Newton-metres) of torque.
A few months after the A-Class’ initial release, we could expect three more gasoline engines and two more diesels that will be added to the range. Alongside this could also be a possible hybrid version. It will likely be the range topping A35 and A45 AMG trims that will be equipped with the 2.0 liter turbocharged engine with 48-volt mild hybrid system.
The A-Class will also be the very first Mercedes car that will feature the new MBUX infotainment system and digital instruments. This will be offered in three configurations including: a pair of 7-inch displays, a 7-inch with a 10.25-inch, and a pair of 10.25 inches for a panoramic view. Buyers can get a touchpad for this, or just utilize it with the touchscreen feature.
