Dodge will not produce a 2019 model year of the Challenger SRT Demon

If you were not able to reserve yourself a 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and think that perhaps you could get your hands on a brand new 2019 model year of the car, we are now telling you that it is impossible. This is because the automaker has no plans to produce more than what they initially announced. It will be limited to 3,300 units only. This number has not changed since they first announced the vehicle. The company now reiterates that there won’t be an extension.

This is because over the last few weeks, Demon enthusiasts have been spreading rumours that their local Dodge dealerships are talking about another model year for the Dodge. This is why the company wants to clarify things now, saying that the Demon will not get a 2019 version.

In fact, Tim Kuniskis, Dodge boss said in his interview with Allpar.com that “2018 only, one and done”, meaning to say that those who did not get the 2018 model year missed out because there will not be a 2019 version if that is what they expected. Furthermore, he told the media several times last year that the Demon will remain to be a 2018 model only, so it is not his fault that Dodge enthusiasts assumed otherwise as he made it very clear.

The thing is, FCA could actually contradict what executives have said and decide to produce more examples of the Demon, except, this will put the automaker in a very delicate situation. Another thing that we should consider is that people who bought the 2018 Demon treat it as an investment. With the model limited to 3,300 examples only, it would be considered a rare model, and therefore, prices will increase.

So if FCA decides to make another 3,000 examples of the Demon, it will not be as rare, and its value will not appreciate. The worst thing that could happen is that this could result to lawsuits for false advertising. So it really would be best for Dodge not to produce 2019 model year units.

Despite that, this does not also mean that we’ve seen the end of Demon. And this is because Dodge is planning to build an updated version of the Challenger, and chances are that this model will receive a variant that will have similarities to the Demon.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, as you remember, has been certified by the National Hot Rod Association. When it first came out, its original price was at $84,995, but if you try and get one from a reseller on eBay, it would probably cost three times more. That’s definitely a good return on investment, if you ask us.
