Jensen’s Range Rover Chieftain delivers superior off-road capability from 560hp V8 engine

When looking at this Range Rover Chieftain that was tuned by Jensen International, the first word that will enter your mind would probably be “classic” or “old school”. But that is before you see how this off roader performs. Yup, it is not just like any truck out there as it is built to conquer Mt. Everest, and you can totally rely on its skills.
Thanks to Jensen International for giving its CTS-V a little more push. Yes, the same 6.2 liter V8 had been supercharged, now giving it an output of 560 horsepower and it now comes with 556 pound-feet of torque. This engine then works with a six speed automatic transmission that is connected to a GM-sourced transfer box.
But the modern engine is not the only thing that has been added into the Chieftain’s retro body, as it now sits on Land Rover Discovery’s third generation platform and a ladder-frame chassis. This enables the Chieftain to have the necessary chops for superb off-road capability.
According to Jensen International, Land Rover engines are known to have a number of issues. This is why owners of these models watch the vehicle’s gauges with tremendous care. So we can’t quite blame them for being so meticulous. And that alone should be enough reason for Jensen to give it a better engine, right?
As you enter the Range Rover Chieftain’s cabin, you’ll quickly discover that it has shed its simple design. Obviously, the aftermarket tuner felt that it needed an overhaul. Before, the design was utilitarian at best. But now, the Chieftain gets a generous load of leather all throughout. It also got bespoke switchgear and even a new satellite navigation system that looks like it has been fitted in seamlessly on top of the dashboard. All in all, the Range Rover Chieftain looks like a spruced-up retromod vehicle.
Aftermarket tuner Jensen International has a fine reputation of transforming iconic British classics and turning them into modern day vehicles. It is known for marrying both vintage designs with today’s high-tech technology. This is why we think that Jensen is the perfect tuner to fix the issues of older vehicles, while still retaining the classic design elements. And Jensen does all these for less than exorbitant prices.
Jensen did not say how much they will charge customers for this kind of upgrade, but it shouldn’t be too much of an increase from the standard Range Rover’s price of $170,000.
