Koenigsegg surprises New York with bespoke Agera RS1

Koenignegg surprises us by revealing another model of the Agera. It has only been weeks ago that the Agera RS Gryphon was released at the Geneva Motor Show. Dubbed the Agera RS1, this model is commissioned by an American owner and his son who have been intensely involved in the specifications and the design of the car.
The RS1 looks so gorgeous with its Arctic White exterior paint with carbon fiber accents all over - black side intakes and a black stripe that runs along the roof of the car, combined with blue canards, calipers and side strakes. The cabin is finished with the same shade of blue in alcantara which contrasts with the polished carbon fiber and black anodized aluminum. It also has aerodynamic features as you would see on a standard Agera RS. This includes the integrated front spoiler, the side skirts, and of course, the rear wing.
Similar to other Koegnisegg models, the RS1 comes with a removable roof that is lightweight and can be stowed in the luggage compartment under the hood of the car. Up to date with technology, this includes a digital entertainment system, a climate control, Bluetooth integration, electric carbon fibre sports seats and many more features.
And we haven’t even started with its capabilities yet. In just a blink of an eye (well I’m exaggerating there), 2.8 seconds to be exact, the RS1 can speed up to 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) from a standstill, and can reach up to triple the distance of 186 miles per hour (300 kph) in just 12.3 seconds. And it can hit a top speed on 273 miles per hour. This comes from Koegnisegg’s 5.0 liter biturbo V8 that can yield a whopping 1,360 horsepower (1,014 kilowatts) and 1,011 pound feet (1,370 Newton metres) of torque. This extra robust engine is paired with a seven-speed automatic gearbox, giving power to the rear-wheel drive. The RS1 has a curb weight of 3,075 pounds (1,394 kilograms), or 2,854 pounds (1,294 kilograms) dry weight.
Just one of the few awesome creations of Koegnisegg, like the RS Gryphon that had 24-karat gold leaf accents around the exterior, the Agera RS1 is going to be another limited hypercar. The Swedish company says that they will only be producing 25 units of the Agera RS1, which will still be distributed around Europe and the US. However, there has been no word on the release date of this model yet as well as its price.
So, hurry up and get your tickets to check out this Agera RS1 at the 2017 New York International Auto Show which will be held at the Javits Center starting this week up until the end of next week.

KOENIGSEGG AGERA RS1 DEBUTS AT 2017 NEW YORK AUTO SHOW

Koenigsegg Automotive AB is pleased to premiere the Koenigsegg Agera RS – dubbed ‘RS1’ – at the 2017 New York Auto Show. The RS1 is the latest addition to Koenigsegg Automotive’s growing US-based family.
The Agera RS on exhibition in New York was specifically named as RS1 by its owner, who, along with his son, has been intensively involved in the entire specification and build process. The RS1 is finished in Arctic White with highlights in a specially selected shade of blue on the front winglets, side skirts, diffuser and rear wing.
The interior is finished in striking blue alcantara with contrasting polished carbon fibre and black anodized aluminum.
The RS1 is powered by Koenigsegg’s own twin-turbocharged 5.0l V8 engine. Developed and hand-built in Ängelholm, Sweden, this powerplant produces 1,360hp and 1,011 lb ft of torque in its 1MW variant.
Power is directed to the rear wheels via a 7-speed automatic transmission with output governed by Koenigsegg’s own traction and stability control systems, which are fully developed in-house along with all engine management and active systems software.
The Agera RS1 has prodigious power, yet weighs just 3,075 lbs with all fluids and ready to drive (2,845 lbs dry weight). This extraordinary power-to-weight ratio allows the car to accelerate from 0-62mph (100km/h) in 2.8 seconds and on to 186mph (300 km/h) in 12.3 seconds. The car is also capable of cornering at up to 1.8G thanks to Koenigsegg’s unique elongated front and rear double wishbone suspension, active damping and advanced aerodynamics.
This light weight is all the more remarkable considering that the Agera RS includes all modern electronic aides and comforts – climate control, satellite navigation, Bluetooth integration, digital entertainment system, electric carbon fibre sports seats, fully adjustable pedals, hydraulic lifting system to aid vehicle clearance, alarm, tire pressure monitoring, fully digitized information and warning systems, among others.
As with all Koenigseggs, the roof is removable for instant open-top driving with no compromise in chassis stiffness or performance. The roof is light in weight and can be stowed in the luggage compartment under the front hood of the car.
The RS1 is the latest in an exclusive series of just 25 Koenigsegg Agera RS vehicles, only a handful of which will ever been seen on American roads. The series was fully subscribed as of January 2016.
