You might want to check out Tesla Model 3’s new online configurator

Tesla has just updated their online configurator for the Model 3, adding a number of new updates, and it seems like the $35,000 base model will arrive sooner than we expect to see it.
A couple of months back, we heard about all the issues regarding the Model 3’s production. And finally, Tesla is starting to deliver some of these vehicles. As a matter of fact, the automaker has already added the $35,000 base model as an option for “Early 2018” in their website. But knowing Tesla, early 2018 probably really means mid to late 2018 - though it still got us a bit excited.
If you are one of the lucky ones that received the invite to configure your Model 3, you would be able to get it for $49,000 instead of $44,000. But why, you ask? That is because Tesla is giving it a Long Range battery that costs $9,000. The Premium Upgrades package is also currently mandatory, adding another $5,000 to its price tag.
For the entry level Model 3, expect it to have a single-motor, rear wheel drive just like the Long Range variation. The only difference is that it will be equipped with a smaller battery pack of about 50 kilowatts per hour, while the Long Range version gets a 75 kWh battery.
Of course, some people said that the base Model 3 could have the same battery pack with 75 kWh, but this is not possible because the software is limited to 50 kWh. And since that’s the case, Tesla will be able to charge you a little extra, if you opt to upgrade your battery. However, this bit of info has not yet been confirmed by Tesla. Also, it will be quite a disadvantage for Tesla to put the much more expensive pack into the base model. And if this was actually possible, then the base model should already be available.
Nullpointer, Tesla Model 3 reservation holder, posted some images of the updated Model 3 Design Studio on the Tesla Motors Club forum. The reason why he did this is so that those who reserved and are interested would be aware of the changes made. But if you have never checked the configurator before, then you would not have realized what’s different. You can also check it on their website now.
Furthermore, since some battery and powertrain options are still not available, they have been greyed out, so you cannot click on them and see specifics. The current update seems to have a bug as well, but it still works. If you were to get a Model 3, what exactly would you configure it to have?
