2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class gets a darker Night Package option
With all the photos Mercedes-Benz has been posting of the new 2019 G-Class, not one of those featured the SUV in a light exterior finish, as they were all in black, or other darker shades. It’s only today that they showed off the Night Package in a brighter shade of red. And all we can say is that it looks very stunning.
You are probably wondering why the Night Package here comes with a lighter body paint. Well, that is because it refers to certain parts of the SUV that has been blackened, including the turn signals, taillights, and headlights. The cabin windows now have tinted glass as well, while the grille’s slats, vertical sections of the bumpers, side mirror housings, and the surround for the spare tire carrier at the rear will be finished in Obsidian Black.
The A-pillar accents, as well as the accents that go up the roof, have a matching look too. The 2019 G-Class with the Night Package rides on 20-inch multi spoke wheels with dark details. All these new blacked-out parts act as a perfect contrast to the red body, as you can see in the photos.
For German customers, they could only get the Night Package with the AMG Line. This package is also not compatible with a black G-Class as well, according to Mbpassion. This is not really the smartest decision they have made, as some customers would probably prefer an all black, or at least a dark appearance for their new SUV.
As for the United States market, they will be able to get their hands on the 2019 G-Class later this year. As we approach the launch date of the car later this year, the company should give us more details with regards to the pricing and options.
When the 2019 G-Class Night Package first comes out, Mercedes will offer the G550 with the 4.0 liter biturbo V8. This engine has an output of 416 horsepower (310 kilowatts) and 450 pound-feet (610 Newton-metres) of torque.
It will then work with a nine speed automatic gearbox because that’s the only available one. This will bring power to the all-wheel drive system that will feature three, driver controllable locking differentials. This will then be followed by more powerful AMG variants later on, which we will update you with.
As for the interior, customers could choose from two dashboard layouts. The first and the standard one consists of an analog instrument and a 12.3 inch infotainment system. But customers could pay a little extra if they prefer the optional two-screen layout with a pair of these large displays.
