Restored 1958 Cuthbertson Land Rover with tracks is up for grabs at upcoming Goodwood Revival

We often associate Land Rovers with hardcore trucks, off roaders, or anything large and muscular - and they have made a name for themselves. Now, we are going to show you something you probably have never seen before.

Back in 1958, the company built the limited run Series II, which only has a total of 20 vehicles made. Like any other car they built, the Series II rolled off the production line complete with wheels, even the one in the photo you are looking at - except this was converted by James A. Cuthbertson of Biggar Scotland, giving it a set of tracks. Now, this may actually be the very last Series II that has survived all those years, and we have to say that it looks pretty well-maintained for its age.

Cuthbertson customized it so it can easily plow through snow and ice and just over anything. He did this by developing a subframe to accommodate the tracks, before placing the Land Rover on top of it. It has been given a crankshaft-drive power steering so it could turn. The interior falls short of current standards, and the seats do not look anything close to comfortable.

Obviously, the Series II can’t run fast at all. In fact, it has a top speed of a little over 20 miles per hour (32 kilometers per hour). Though it will take hours to lap the Nurburgring, it is able to go to places most cars can't, and can drive on terrains that other trucks can't tackle.

Back in its time, the Series II was very useful for the military when they would go on missions involving explosives clearing since it was lighter than most tanks. If you are wondering why the Series II looks quite new, it is because it has been restored before getting its new tracks.

Now, if anyone is interested, it is your lucky day as this first-generation Series II is for sale. And there is only one of this in the world right now. This September, Bonhams will put this up for sale at the Goodwood Revival.

Despite the fact that this monster truck can’t really go so far, the auction house thinks that the 1958 Cuthbertson Land Rover would be sold at a price between £50,000 and £60,000 ($65,500 and $78,552). In fact, if you spend a little more than that, you can get yourself a brand new 2018 Range Rover - so think well before you make a bid. Though the Series II can assure you that you’ll be safe from rampaging wildlife, and maybe even from the white walkers.
