Louis Vuitton creates luggage collection for BMW i8
Louis Vuitton has created a customized collection of luggage for the BMW i8 plug-in hybrid. It includes two travel bags, a business case and a garment bag. Likewise, the luggage range’s understated carbon-black of this luggage range is in harmony with the colors of the BMW i8, boasting of a sophisticated look thanks to the checkered Damier pattern and a laser-etched Louis Vuitton signature.
The black and electric blue used in the microfiber lining takes cues from the trademark brand colors of the BMW i8 while bag handles are made from dyed natural leather. All items in the luggage collection feature leather name tags and the Louis Vuitton padlock, with the exception of the garment bag. Just like the BMW i8’s passenger cell, the bags and cases are made from carbon fiber, making the collection not only lightweight but also extremely sturdy.
Carbon fiber has been used by Louis Vuitton to create a special textile due to its great robustness and strength, great for enduring the rigors of travel. To ensure optimal use of space, the luggage items were tailor-made to fit perfectly into the interior. The Weekender GM i8, with both hand and shoulder carry straps, is tailor-made to fit into the boot, while the Garment Bag i8 is well-suited for the rear shelf.
The Business Case i8, meanwhile, matches the shape of the rear seats. The small Weekender PM i8 is designed to rest on its surface. Starting April 1, 2014, the Louis Vuitton luggage series could be availed on request at selected Louis Vuitton stores around the world -- Munich, Milan, London, Paris, Moscow, Dubai, New York, Los Angeles.
