2018 Audi Q3 will receive Competition Package, Sport trim in the United States
The Audi Q3, also known as the smallest crossover option in the United States, is getting a new upgrade, with an overall sportier look. This is because the automaker will introduce a new Sport trim to the lineup next year. Though it is a “Sport” trim, do not expect it to perform better because the sporty upgrades are only limited to the exterior. Having said that, it focuses more on convenience features and styling.
For those who are interested, the 2018 Audi Q3 Sport Premium can be had for $34,875 (including $975 destination fee). That makes it $1,000 more expensive than the standard Q3. You are probably wondering what upgrades you will get with the additional $1000. Well, this trim includes new exterior treatments like 19-inch 10-spoke wheels and brushed matte aluminum inlays. This goes with a power tailgate, mirrors that automatically dim, and proximity key with the $1,350 Convenience Package equipped.
The higher trim, which is the Sport Premium Plus, on the other hand, costs a little more at $36,775 for 2018. If you will include the optional technology package, that will cost you an extra $1,200. This trim features a Bose audio system and other fancy things. And for those who would like to go for the sporty luxury option, there is the range-topping S Line Competition Package that comes loaded with features as well as blacked out design touches. But naturally, this costs a little more too.
The Sport Premium Plus option gives the small CUV a set of 20 inch V-spoke wheels with summer tires, together with a three-spoke flat bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, sport seats, Audi drive select, a Black Optic exterior kit, roof rails in a matching shade of black, and a black RS spoiler. All these are part of the package.
All in all, if you decide to go for the Audi Q3 with the Competition Package, that will add up to a total amount of $38,775, and this will be available early in 2018. It still is cheaper than the 2018 BMW X1 with an M Sport package.
Having said all that, we think that the Q3 is still missing some important features even after the upgrade. For instance, the small crossover does not have enough safety technology. Until now, it still does not offer standard safety features that can be found in other models including forward collision warning or adaptive cruise control. However, the Premium Plus trim does have an Audi side assist, a radar-based blind spot monitor.
