602-hp Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6 is now up for grabs at $349,000

After building more than a thousand units of four-wheeled VelociRaptor modified Raptor trucks in the past years, Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) unveiled the VelociRaptor 6X6 Conceptin 2016. Nearly a year after, the company completed the final version and teased the Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6 at the 2017 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas. Now, HPE is finally letting the VelociRaptor 6X6 out of its cage for a price that starts at $349,000.
The new Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6 is basically a Raptor -- in particular a Ford Raptor truck – a transformed six-wheel drive off-road vehicle with more than 600 horsepower of output. HPE aimed to refine the VelociRaptor 6X6 and turn it from being just a concept to a full production unit. However, those wanting to get a piece of this off-road monster need to act fast and contact HPE. This is because the company is building only 50 examples of the Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6. HPE is also willing to cater to customers outside the United States. Interested customers could order the Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6 directly from HPE or through select Hennessey / Ford dealers.
When HPE unveiled the concept version of the VelociRaptor 6X6 truck, it pegged the starting price at $295,000. However, something must have happened between the concept phase and the final production form that moved HPE to increase the base price by $54,000 to $349,000. There could be a number of changes on the parts and components or there could be some tweaks to the cost structure of creating a fully capable VelociRaptor 6X6. Nonetheless, the surge in starting price is understandable, and the Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6 remains significantly more affordable than the Mercedes-Benz G63 6x6, which is valued at least more than half a million dollars.
Starting at $349,000, Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6 already includes the base Ford Raptor SuperCrew four-door truck, 6X6 locking rear axles as well as upgraded Fox suspension. The engine of the Ford Raptor SuperCrew – a 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 mill that delivers 450 hp of max output and 510 lb.-ft. of peak torque – has been upgraded to develop 152 hp more output and 172 lb.-ft. (233 Nm) more. Thanks to the VelociRaptor 600 twin turbo upgrade – which include upgraded twin turbochargers, upgraded front intercooler, stainless steel exhaust modifications, upgraded plumbing and re-tuned factory computer – the V6 engine now generates 602 hp (448 kW) of max output and 622 lb.-ft. (843 Nm). This is enough for the VelociRaptor 6X6 to sprint from nil to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds while still boasting of unmatched off-road prowess.
The VelociRaptor 6X6 also features a set of six 20-inch wheels shod in Toyo Open Country off-road tires, special front and rear bumpers from the company as well as LED lights and a roll bar. HPE is offering a three-year/36,000 mile warranty for the Hennessey VelociRaptor 6X6, whichever comes first.

Hennessey Performance Engineering announces production of VelociRaptor 6x6

The Velociraptor dinosaur, famous for its speed and intelligence in the Jurassic Park films, is computer magic. Hennessey's version that was teased at SEMA, the VelociRaptor 6x6 based on the Ford Raptor, is very real and very fast. Hennessey Performance Engineering is proud to announce that the VelociRaptor 6x6 is now being built for a limited production run of 50 vehicles. It will also be available for export around the world.
Hennessey Performance's $349,000 VelociRaptor 6x6 is an aggressive, in your face off-road beast. With 602 hp and 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, this six-wheeled monster can handle anything up to and including a Jurassic adventure with speed, power and unrivaled off-road prowess.
Taking 11 months from concept to finish, the VelociRaptor 6x6 is the successor to the original four-wheeled Hennessey Performance VelociRaptor, which debuted in 2010. Hennessey initially did not have plans to tune and customize pickups on a regular basis, but after a customer asked for a custom twin-turbo package on his 2010 Ford Raptor, the demand skyrocketed once enthusiasts saw what Hennessey could do. An appearance on Top Gear USA in 2011 didn't hurt demand either. To date, Hennessey has built more than 1,000 four-wheeled VelociRaptors.
"The VelociRaptor 6x6's appearance at SEMA was just a sneak peek, but we are done teasing," said John Hennessey, Founder and CEO of Hennessey Performance Engineering. "It is time to uncage our monster of a truck."
