Top 5 production and concept cars at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show
Every time there is an auto show, people tend to compare one car to another - in terms of technology, performance, appeal, and many other factors. And oftentimes, new models even get compared to their predecessors. So here are our top five from the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show.
Mercedes-AMG Project One
Mercedes-AMG Project One, if you can afford one, comes with a hefty price tag of $2.72 million (€2.3 million). But there is a valid reason as to why it costs that much. Firstly, it is a limited edition model that has been developed with Formula 1 technology, and uses electric motors.
The four-wheel drive also has a 1.6 liter petrol engine that produces 1,000 horsepower at 11,000 rpm. This enables it to accelerate from 0 to 200 kilometers per hour in under six seconds.
BMW i Vision Dynamics
BMW i Vision Dynamics Concept, also known as the Tesla Killer, made its way to Frankfurt as a four-door gran coupe that is positioned between the i3 and the i8. But this is actually one of the twelve new electric models the company plans to release until 2025.
The i Vision Dynamics will have a maximum range of 600 kilometers (373 miles), and that is way more than the Tesla Model S P100D. In just 4 seconds, the i Vision Dynamics can hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) from a standstill.
Audi RS4 Avant
RS4 Avant may be one of the coolest cars you can get today, and don't worry because it won't cost you $2 million, but it’s actually priced at just under €80,000. This comes with a 2.9 liter twin turbo TFSI V6 engine paired with a quattro AWD setup, giving out as much as 450 horsepower and 600 Nm (442 pound-feet) of torque. This enables it to hit 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour) in 4.1 seconds.
Audi Aicon
Another one of Audi's concepts would be the Aicon that focuses on the maximum range more than acceleration times or the top speed. This is actually quite a big deal for an all electric vehicle, whether it is a concept car or a production model – certainly a good move by Ingolstadt.
With just one charge, Audi boasts that the Aicon can travel between 700 and 800 kilometers (435-497 miles). It is also a fully autonomous model, which means that it does not need a steering wheel, pedals, or any buttons.
Renault SYMBIOZ
Renault SYMBIOZ Concept would be perfect for those who seek a comfortable ride in and out of the city. In fact, it is like a mobile living room that was designed with rotating chairs and a coffee table. Renault even worked with some architects to make sure the interior was comfortable and stylish enough, ensuring that passengers would feel at home wherever they are.
