Jaguar XF SVR gets rendered

A vehicle with an SVR badge is considered as a special vehicle with higher levels of performance. Not all Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles have received the badge, and one of these unfortunate models is the Jaguar XF midsize luxury car (saloon and estate). But for now, people could stop dreaming about the Jaguar XF SVR. However, it is interesting to see how a Jaguar XF SVR would look like even on paper.

Thankfully, there is someone – an automotive designer named Aksyonov Nikita of St. Petersburg, Russia – who might be able satisfy that interest. After all, Nikita has already rendered an SVR version of a 2017 Jaguar XF saloon. Since it is just a rendering, this model – the 2017 Jaguar XF SVR – could only remain in the imagination of people longing for a high-performance version of the saloon. Nonetheless, the rendering by Nikita shows how the Jaguar XF SVR might look like – with more black details, a rear wing, a front lip spoiler, quad exhausts as well as other details that makes this higher performance version look sportier and faster.

Jaguar and Land Rover models that have received the SVR badge from the Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) are vehicles considered to have reached the pinnacle of performance as defined by Jaguar Land Rover and with attributes like power, handling and speed. If the Jaguar XF is to receive that badge, there is a need to justify why it has to bear the SVR name. But the sad thing is that even people at Jaguar are thinking that the XF won’t need the badge. However, it is incorrect to think that the Jaguar XF doesn’t really deserve the SVR badge; it is only that there are other vehicles in the brand’s stable that are on the priority list.

For instance, the Jaguar F-Pace mid-size sports utility vehicle is definitely getting the high-performance SVR treatment. With SUVs high on demand, an SVR version of the Jaguar F-Pace is definitely worth the effort. The demand for high-performance SUVs on the market is growing, and Jaguar could really take advantage of the situation by throwing an F-Pace SVR into its SUV lineup. It makes sense – on the business aspect – for Jaguar.

On the other hand, the demand for saloons, estates and sportbrakes remains, but it pales in comparison to that of SUVs, even when combined. Thus, it might be counterproductive – in terms of money and efforts – to offer a Jaguar XF SVR, or even a Jaguar XE SVR. While there could be a demand, it won’t be enough to merit the creation of a high performance SVR version of the Jaguar XF.

However, while the Jaguar XF SVR could be dead for now, the future could be bright. SVO boss, John Edwards, talked to Road and Track at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show about plans to launch SVR-badged models. Once SVO is done with priority models, the XF might just get its chance
