Legendary Top Secret V12 Toyota Supra is up for auction at 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon

One of the legends of the automotive tuning world will be auctioned off at the upcoming 2018 Tokyo Auto Salon in January. We’re talking about the Top Secret V12 Toyota Supra (TS8012V) that boasts of a power that surpasses most of the vehicles of today. It surpasses even the upcoming Supra. The asking price has not been listed but it is expected that this hotshot icon would be worth a lot.
This Toyota Supra was created in 2006 as the TS8012V project by speed-chasing legend Kazuhiko "Smokey" Nagata, founder of Japanese tuning company Top Secret. Interestingly, the TS8012V came to life simply because Nagata was bored and cannot wait for the next generation of the Nissan GT-R, the R35. This sheer boredom spurred Nagata to take matters into his own hands and started the TS8012V project out of a 1994 Toyota Supra.
Intended to become one of Top Secret’s most extreme cars, the TS8012V is powered by an engine that isn't originally its own. During the time the TS8012V was being conceptualized, the most common way to upgrade the power of a car was to tweak its engine. But Nagata didn’t want to tune the Supra’s 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE I6 and instead swapped it with the 5.0-liter 1GZ-FE V12 mill of the Toyota Century limousine.
But compared to the inline-six 2JZ-GTE, the 1GZ-FE V12 actually had less output. This prompted Nagata to install two HKS GT2835 ball bearing turbochargers along with Top Secret custom intake plenums featuring twin 80-mm throttle bodies. Furthermore, the engine was supported by a wet nitrous setup and employed two HKS F-Con V Pro standalone ECUs for the needing tuning. Other engine works include custom engine mounts, custom fuel system, V-mounted oil coolers, and a dry-sump conversion with an upgraded ORC oil pump. The TS8012V still features the stock six-speed Getrag JZA80 transmission, but it is now mated to an ORC clutch and LSD.
After the engine works, Nagata sent the TS8012V to the dyno, recording a massive 930 hp of max output and 745 lb.-lbs. of peak torque. This makes the TS8012V more powerful than a stock Supra. However, the rumored next-generation Supra is said to offer more than 400 hp of output. This TS8012V Supra is also more powerful than current supercars like the McLaren 650S, Ferrari 488 GTB and Dodge Challenger SRT Demon.
Nagata also fitted the TS8012V Supra with custom aerodynamic parts like Top Secret's Super G-Force Wangan widebody kit that includes front and rear bumpers, 33-mm front and 50-mm rear wide fenders, side steps, as well as HID headlight housings with IPF lights. It is also fitted with Top Secret carbon aero bonnet with bonnet pins, a GT rear wing and aero mirrors by Ganador with LED units. The TS8012V Supra also features Aragosta's harmonic drive suspension and a Roberuta Cup kit. Wrapped in a gold finish, the TS8012V Supra comes with massive GReddy 8-pot front calipers and 4-rear pot calipers. It rides on 19-inch Volk Racing GT-F wheels shod in Bridgestone RE-01R tires.
The TS8012V Supra had a theoretical top speed of more than 400 km/h. However, the fastest that this tuned Supra got was 358.22 km/h – short of Nagata’s expectation but well-beyond the cars of its time.
