Russian artist creates rendering of a facelifted Porsche 918 Spyder

Hypercars are completely unlike an average car. Average cars live up to 7 years or more, they are produced in massive numbers, and we can find them displayed in showrooms for quite some time. Hypercars, on the other hand, are on the opposite end of the spectrum. They are produced in small quantities, and are only out in the market for a limited time, plus they cost a fortune.

For instance, let’s talk about the Porsche 918 Spyder. Given that name, we know that there was only a total of 918 units manufactured. The first ever Spyder made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and production began on September 28, 2013. More than a year later, in June 2015, the 918th unit – the last -- was produced. Even with a surreal price of $847,000, the last unit was sold as early as December 2014.

Though we will never see a brand new Porsche 918 Spyder again, it won’t hurt to dream about one, right? A Russian artist from Saint Petersburg, Aksyonov Nikita did a rendering of the impossible - a facelifted Porsche 918 Spyder with design inspirations from the beautiful Mission E Concept. The design looks nothing short of fantastic. As sinful as it looks, too bad we’ll never see a real life version of it.

The front facia of the rendering will remind you of the Mission E will its all-LED headlights, Nikita added a fin on the center of the hood for a more aggressive look. Side vents have been added along with the slight changes to the bumper. On the other end, the rear bumper of the Spyder has been remodeled and now has a pair of vents on both ends, the taillights stretch from one end to another which complements the derrière’s design perfectly.

Nikita only published two photos online which shows the front and the rear ends of the car, and they look so sick! We can’t even imagine how the cabin of this Spyder would look.

The good news is that Porsche announced that the former quickest production car around Nürburging will have a successor - that will come out in maybe another decade. Oliver Blume, global chief of Porsche, revealed that hypercars like the Spyder only come once every 10 years.

So I guess we’ll have to wait until 2025 for the next one to arrive. And since they have not even started with the development stage yet, it will even take a while for us to see a concept, or the very first preview of the next generation Porsche 918 Spyder. But will all the technology that we have, and will be having, imagine how powerful that car will be when it comes to life.
