Watch out for this Corvette with glow-in-the-dark livery at Le Mans

While a bunch of cars will take over 24 Hours Le Mans this racing season, there’s a glow-in-the dark Chevrolet Corvette that is destined to steal the spotlight. Coming to Le Man’s for this year’s GTE Am category is the bright and colorful Corvette C7.R art car that will be driven by Christian PhilipponRomain Brandela and Fernando Reese.
Designed by street artist Ramzi Adek, the glow in the dark livery will be featuring a graffiti-inspired paintwork in different shades of neon colors. Now we can be sure it won’t go unseen in the dead of the night.
The #50 Corvette was first seen last weekend at the Circuit de la Sarthe while undergoing official tests. As opposed to the traditional yellow body paint, Adek’s product looks totally different from the many Corvettes that took part in this competition.
As the 24 Hours Le Mans comes closer, the racing teams have rolled out their cars for official testing. In the LMGTE AM category, Aston Martin’s racing team took the top slot with its Vantage V8. Trailing next to it is the Larbre Competition’s Chevrolet Corvette C7.R behind by 0.052 second. Counting the very recent Corvette C6.R victory in 2012, the French team has not only won in the same racing class but also in other racing series.
Before this, Ramzi Adek was known for his colorful renditions of cartoon characters such as The Simpsons and Mickey Mouse. The brightly colored Corvette by far is his most eccentric masterpiece although he’s painted some Vespas along with a Ferrari and a Mercedes Benz SLS only this year. As part of the superhero theme, Adek’s pop art livery is also splattered with “50” “Larbre” “Human” along with a few familiar comic book sound effects such as “WAM!”, “CRASH”, “BOOM” all over it.
The French artist said that his idea of the project was to build a certain flow of power and strength that will inspire Le Mans drivers to carry on with the competition --and so this is why he created a livery with an aggressive tone to make a strong impact for the Larbre team.
Adek may not be among the three drivers piloting the Corvette during the race, but he’s definitely the strongest motivation behind the squad because of his very lively creation. They surely have an edge, besides, Aston Martin’s Vantage V8 only wears a bleak grey body paint to start with.
