2013 Bmw Z4 Facelift revealed ahead of Detroit Auto Show
Because the current Bmw Z4 (E89) was introduced four years ago, Bmw decided that it was time for a refresh. As a result, it introduced the new Z4 Facelift and announced that it will bring the car in January, at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. Still, you will need some eagle eyes to see the differences between this and the outgoing model as the Bavarian manufacturer applied some subtle changes.
First of all, we have modified front and rear bumpers, but don’t expect something fancy. As expected, the front bumper features LED daytime running lights now. Moreover, the new Z4 features three new body colours available exclusively with the Design Pure Traction option, which is also new. Black and orange tones create a particularly absorbing contrast of colours in the interior. B
Bmw is also introducing a new entry-level engine: the 2.0-liter developing 156 hp (115 kW) found on the Z4 sDrive18i. This new entry-level model can also be ordered with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
For those interested, the selection of driver assistance systems and Bmw ConnectedDrive mobility services has also been expanded. If the Professional navigation system is specified, the ConnectedDrive Services option enables use of internet-based information and entertainment services inside the car.
Up to 11 external paint colors are offered for the BMW Z4 which includes the Glacier Silver metallic, the Mineral Gray metallic and the Valencia Orange metallic, with the latter being ordered as part of the Hyper Orange package. This latest design package and aesthetics gives the Roadster an active aura; for instance, the interior takes pride of its energy-charged combination of orange and black. The sophisticated Alcantara trim of the door panel also comes in orange just like the inferior instrument panel section.
Its seats are covered in black leather with Valencia Orange contrast stitching and a stripe that runs down the center of the seat cushions and backrests. This orange stripe is bordered by two white lines. The instrument panel’s lower section and door panel trim can also come in black as specified. The Hyper Orange package also has the metal weave trim strip as one of its special components that can be integrated with other design elements in glossy black for the selector lever or gearshift and the door openers. This updated Design package has replaced the former Citrus Yellow Package and is offered along with other optional paint colors for the exteriors.
New additions to the BMW Z4’s interior include the folding Control Display of the iDrive system, forming part of the available navigation system, and the central air vents’ glossy black surrounds. Moreover, the elegant Fineline Anthracite wood was added as an option of available interior trim strips for the latest BMW Z4. Several models like the BMW Z4 sDrive35i, BMW Z4 sDrive35is and the BMW Z4 sDrive28i are also built with the Kansas leather trim. Its selection of wheels also includes new V-Spoke 18-in light alloy wheels that are made with staggered tired sizes (front and rear).
The Roadster’s engaging nature has become a driver’s instrument and was emphasized by the available M Sport package which consists of 18-in M light-alloy wheels, the Adaptive M suspension, and the M aerodynamics package with big air intakes located in the anterior wing and posterior bumper inlay with Anthracite metallic finish.
