IMSA wins will be celebrated with release of Championship Editions for 2018 Cadillac ATS-V and CTS-V

Over the past racing season, Cadillac has seen a wealth of success on the track. In fact, they took home the IMSA Weather Tech championship for the 2017 season. On one hand, Konica Minolta took home the Team championship; and on the other hand, brothers Ricky and Jordan Taylor brought home the Driver’s championship. To celebrate their success on the track, the American automaker will offer a couple of minimally modified performance vehicles to mark this occasion.

Having said that, it will be the ATS-V coupe and sedan, as well as the CTS-V sedan that will be getting a special Championship Edition to celebrate the success. Customers can choose from two exterior finishes including Black Raven or Crystal White Tricoat.

To make it stand out from the rest of the models, it gets unique side view mirrors caps finished in Red Obsession. It also gets DPi-V.R. graphics on the quarter windows, red Brembo brake calipers, and forged polish-finished alloy V-Series wheels. All the red bits and pieces will definitely make it stand out from the rest. Don’t you think?

To match the exterior design, the cabin is also finished in Morello Red leather that is complemented by Jet Black Recaro racing seats, red front and rear door armrests, and a high gloss carbon fiber interior trim in the same Morello hue. Furthermore, it comes with additional features like a Performance Data Recorder with Cosworth Toolbox, a sunroof, and a rear camera mirror for added tech.

All the upgrades of the Championship Edition that I mentioned so far are purely skin deep. That is because both the ATS-V and CTS-V already perform well to begin with. The former has a 3.6 liter biturbo V6 that carries out 464 horsepower (346 kilowatts) and 445 pound-feet (603 Newton metres) of torque. For the latter, it originally comes equipped with a 6.2 liter supercharged V8 that produces 556 horsepower (415 kilowatts) and 551 pound feet (747 Newton metres).

In terms of pricing, the 2018 ATS-V Championship Edition will have a starting price of $72,190 for the sedan, while the coupe will have a price tag of $74,390. As for the CTS-V Championship Edition, it will be a little pricier at $105,730. All in all, Cadillac plans to assemble only 200 units of the Championship Edition. The brand has confirmed that these will only be available in North America. While that’s just too bad for the rest of the race aficionados in other regions, we can always hope
