Year-end recap: Top five custom cars of 2016

The previous year has brought us a lot of good things to rave about --- even when they’re next to impossible to get a hold of. We’re talking about those custom cars that took a lot of time and effort to create.

Since it’s the start of the year, we’ve gathered the five most amazing custom cars from 2016. Proud owners of these very unique vehicles will surely be glad knowing all their hard work has paid off.

Without further ado, let’s make way for Ferrari SP275 RW, the 458 MM Speciale, the Jeep Wrangler Trailcat, the 1UZ V8-powered Toyota FJ and Ryan Tuerck’s Toyota GT4586. Read on.

Ferrari SP275 RW

Topping the list is none other than the yellow SP275 RW. This one-off Ferrari is based on the F12 TDF and was customized to look exactly like the 1965 275 GBT that won the GT category in the LeMans 24 Hour Race.

The SP257 RW comes with a 6.3-litre V12 engine just like the F12 TDF. We think the owner of this special car had a rough time choosing the best Ferrari chassis available, no wonder it deserves the number one spot.

Ferrari 458 MM Speciale

The next one is also a Ferrari but it’s a 458 MM Speciale that looks like the twin brother of the Lotus Esprit Concept. It comes with 597hp 4.5 litre V8 engine based on Ferrari’s existing 458 Speciale model.

Interestingly, the Lotus Esprit didn’t make it into production. All the more we’d want to consider this one-off 458 MM Speciale beyond special.

Jeep Wrangler Trailcat Concept

The third on the list is the Jeep Wrangler Trailcat Concept. Where else can you find a manual transmission, Hellcat-powered Wrangler anyway?

This monster comes with a whopping 707hp 6.2 litre V8 supercharger enough to scare the hell out of any Grand Cherokee on the road. Even if the latter is said to soon come up with Hellcat’s engine, we think this Trailcat version is way even better.

1976 Toyota FJ Cruiser with 1UZ V8 engine

Next comes the 1976 Toyota FJ Cruiser with 1UZ V8 engine. Allers Customs & Rods did a great job by combining Toyota FJ’s offroad performance with Lexus’ 300hp V8 engine.

But that’s not all. Apparently, this beast is also made with some parts coming from Volkswagen, Jeep and Land Rover. Isn’t that interesting?

Toyota GT4586

Last but not the least is the custom creation of professional car drifter Ryan Tuerck. As you can see, this car is a Toyota but it has Ferrari’s engine under its hood. Also known as the GT4586, this one-off red Toyota is mounted with Ferrari 458’s 4.5 litre V8 engine.

It doesn’t look attractive, but It caught most of the audience’s attention from last year’s SEMA show. It’s probably the most astonishing custom vehicle they have showcased considering the amount of hard work involved just to place the engine.
