Mcchip-dkr unveils the Porsche 911 Targa GT3 RS
For those Porsche enthusiasts out there, you must know that the Porsche 911 lineup is wide enough that you can get a model or trim that fits your style and personality - these range from models like the basic 911 Carrera all the way to the high performance, all wheel drive Carrera 4 GTS Cabriolet. But here’s one more.
German tuner McChip-dkr has built a powered-up Targa version of the 911. Just check out this example they modified. They were able to tweak the Targa body and gave it GT3 levels of power, which have previously been available only in a coupe.
They were able to do this by taking a 911 Targa 4 GTS as their base. McChip-dkr then managed to maximize the car’s output to 566 horsepower (422 kilowatts) and 498 pound-feet of torque (675 Newton-metres).
This is quite an impressive upgrade from the stock model, increasing from 450 horsepower (336 kiolwatts) and 405 pound-feet of torque (549 Newton metres) going up to 566 horsepower (422 kilowatts) and 498 pound-feet of torque (675 Newton metres). Apart from the increased output, the tuner also installed its third stage performance upgrade, which includes upgraded turbos, new downpipes, Capristo exhaust with sports catalysts and a performance chip.
To improve its performance even more, McChip-dkr gave it a set of height adjustable KW coilovers together with some Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes. A new set of wheels had also been equipped, with 20 inch front wheels, and 21 inch rear wheels. These make sure that the car gets extra power to the road, and still make the Targa look like a genuine Porsche product.
When looking at it from the outside, the McChip-dkr tuned body looks just like a GT3 RS. The German tuner had added bits and pieces of original Porsche parts and added them to the body - from the bumpers, fenders, and the trim. Even the exhaust outlets also come Porsche’s track focused coupe. When you add everything up, the result is a fantastic looking Targa that’s as perfect as they come.
When looking inside the 911 GT3 RS Targa, it has a retro design as the seats and the door panels are covered in a unique houndstooth pattern that that they refer to as the Pepita. This reminds us of the upholstery available on some classic Porsches that some of you might remember. The retro interior offers an interesting contrast with the ultra-modern exterior design. Of course, a stylish cabin is always a great attribute for an open-top car.

This time the mcchip-dkr crew managed to achieve their very ambitious goal to convert a Porsche 991.2 Targa 4 GTS into a 991.1 GT3 RS-look. The front- and rear-apron, the front bumpers and the rear side panels are replaced by original Porsche parts. At the same time the interior has been redesigned by covering the seats and door trims with the classical check pattern called „Pepita“. Before the installment of the Porsche-GT3-RS-rims in 9x20“ with 265/35ZR20 tires on the front axle and 12x21“ with 325/30ZR21 on the rear axle, height-adjustable KW thread springs and Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes (PCCB) are mounted. As spacers discs can not be installed on center locked rims – due to technical issues - the front axle has been customized in order to make the rim look flush-fit with the fender.
The original power unit operates on 450 PS (= 331 kW) and 550 Nm. Now, it benefits of a mcchip-dkr performance upgrade stage 3 with 575 PS (= 422 kW) as well as maximum of 675 Nm lb.-ft. of torque. In addition to a software optimization and the mc580 upgrade turbo chargers, a Capristo valve exhaust system incl. sports catalysts and GT3-RS tailpipes complete the awesome deal.
