Meet Tesla Model S 100D’s new rival – the Elextra Electric supercar

Swiss firm Classic Factory just revealed the Elextra Electric, and it is nothing short of amazing. The Swiss supercar promises to be the fastest accelerating car ever produced. Designed in Switzerland and built in Germany, the four-door electric supercar truly stands out from other EVs out there.

Though the Elextra looks somewhat like a Lamborghini Aventador, the company does not see the Italian super car manufacturer as its main competitor. Instead, the Swiss sporty EV sees Tesla as its fiercest rival.

What makes this supercar different from most supercars out there is the fact that it features four doors and four seats. At the same time, it features and an all-wheel-drive system, through the electric motors positioned at each axle.

The Swiss company claims that the Elextra has a total system power of 680 horsepower. Therefore, it can accelerate from 0 to 62 miles per hour in less than 2.3 seconds (that’s even quicker than the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon), and has a top speed of 155 miles per hour (250 kph). The Tesla Model S P100D, on the other hand, can reach 60 miles per hour in just 2.4 seconds.

Another key for the performance is its lightweight construction. To keep its weight down, the body and the internal structure are all made of carbon fiber.

In terms of distance, the Elextra has a total range of 373 miles (600 kilometers) at 62 miles per hour (100 kilometers per hour), on a single charge. And according to the New European Driving Cycle test, its main competitor Tesla Model S 100D, can cover up to 393 miles (632 kilometers) per charge, while the performance version P100D has a longer range of 381 miles (613 km). Notably, the US Environmental Protection Agency only gave the Teslas a range of 335 miles (539 km) and 315 miles (507 km). The thing is, you can’t really make an evaluation or comparison at this point, as the range also depends on different speeds, or how hard you push your car.

Behind the Elextra is Swiss designer Robert Palm, who is also the founder of design firm Classic Factory. His main vision for the supercar was to combine classic design with modern technology. He designed the Elextra with pure lines as inspired by Italian supercars, and it turned out looking beautiful and sleek.

The company stated that they will build no more than one hundred units of the first model by hand, making it extremely exclusive. Production will be handled by an independent vehicle manufacturer in Stuttgart, Germany. We can expect to hear more details from the Swiss firm in the next couple of months. LIGHTWEIGHT ENGINEERING – 600 KM RANGE
