Peisert Design reimagines Mercedes-AMG Project One hypercar with F1 face

The Mercedes-AMG Project One has been the talk of the town since it has been revealed. The 1,000-plus horsepower (745-kilowatt) model was inspired by an F1 car and had been designed in a wind tunnel. Naturally, artists all over the world will be interested in giving the Project One their own style when it comes to designing it, and one of these artists mocked the said model with a unique Formula One touch to it.

The designer gave the Project One a completely different face, where the elongated nose looks like it had been pulled off of Lewis Hamilton’s AMG F1 W08 EQ Power+ F1 car. Furthermore, the rendered model looks like it has gotten rid of the headlights up front and moved it just behind the grille for a sleeker look. Now with a more distinct face, the Project One now has got a unique angular diffuser. As mentioned earlier, this Mercedes car was inspired by a Formula One car. It’s clear that Peisert Design’s rendering looks “virtually closer” to one, even more than the production model.

Similarly, the Project One’s rear end has been changed up a lot too. A singular light bar now runs from one end to the other to replace the standard tail lights on the production model. The spine has also been made more functional and now lights up when the driver steps on the brake pads.

Overall, there were a number of things that had been tweaked from the production version of the Project One, as the rendering definitely looks more futuristic. Which do you think looks better, the production model or the artist’s rendering?

Even with all the artists who want to create a rendering for Project One, it remains as unique as ever. It is equipped with a 1.6-liter turbocharged V6 that is paired to four electric motors under the hood. Overall, this allows the mean machine to carry out 1,000 horsepower (745 kilowatts), letting it accelerate to 60 miles per hour in about 2.5 seconds. And in less than six seconds, it can hit 124 miles per hour (200 kilometers per hour). It also has an impressive top speed of 217 miles per hour (350 kilometers per hour).

Dieter Zetsche, chairman and boss of Daimler, said in his statement that Project One will indeed have a successor, adding that it is already part of their plan. This model is most likely to have a pure electric powertrain rather than a combustion engine. This means that they will be borrowing from the company’s Formula E expertise. The current Project One is expected to make its arrival in 2019, so do not expect to see its successor earlier than 2025.
