BMW M2 peppered with M Performance and Akrapovic bits
The guys at BMW Abu Dhabi are notoriously famous for being unconventional in all sorts of things. These guys have this quirky way of customizing a car ---whether with the choice of color they apply, the aftermarket upgrade they use, or actually nearly every aspect of the vehicle that touches their hands.
Speaking of which, BMW Abu Dhabi recently unveiled an M-Performance-equipped BMW M2 at their showroom. Other than the carbon fiber aero kit, the BMW M stripe-wearing M2 gets an Akrapovic exhaust system with Akrapovic downpipes for better sound. As it goes, everything else here will get a taste of the wild carbon fiber treatment--- starting with the trunk lid spoiler, the skirt winglets, the front spoiler, and even the rear diffuser up to the M2’s side mirror casings.
To further highlight the M Performance package, the BMW M2 wears the hardcore M Graphics with black M wheels. This complements not only the kidney grille’s gloss finish but also the black accents along the exterior.
Inside this BMW M2’s interior cabin comes an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel while the door panels are also wrapped with the same material including a portion of the hand-brake lever. Additionally, the customized interior comes with full leather seats with blue stitching to match the otherwise subdued color scheme.
Just as how it is done outside, there are a lot carbon fiber trims inside this M-specced BMW. This includes the centre console, gear lever, grab handles and vents at the interior. With it comes the M Performance steering wheel which has a built-in digital screen. To top it off, some portions of the dashboard as well as on the passenger’s side and hand brakes are also decked in carbon fiber.
By standard, a BMW M2 is packed with a 365hp and 369 lb-ft of torque 3.0 liter twin scroll turbo 6 cylinder petrol engine. If paired to a 7-speed dual clutch DCT gearbox, (which is optionally available), the M2 has enough power to sprint from zero to 62mph (100km/h) in 4.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 155 miles per hour. That being the case, it can also accelerate quickly to 100kph in 4.5 seconds with the manual transmission. The coupe’s combined fuel economy returns for the M DCT is at 35.8 miles per gallon and 33.2mpg for the manual. For CO2 emissions, the M DCT returns as low as 185g/km while the manual has 199g/km.
